How I got to Level 8 as a Google Local Guide

I started contributing to Google Maps casually in the middle of 2023, mainly to help other people find helpful, accurate information. At that moment in my life I was in the south of Portugal and I simply couldn’t help but share information about the magnificent beaches, parks and architecture of this beautiful country.

Over time, it became part of how I travel and explore my local area. What began with a few reviews slowly turned into a consistent habit. I reached Level 8

Here’s my contribution for these 2 years:

Over 15,000 points earned
2M - photo views
1,2M - video views
215 reviews written (380 000 views)
410+ questions answered*

My reviews are quite honest and specific, focusing on what I experienced and/or the place vibe and historical content. I value authenticity in Google Maps. My photos and videos can help too, especially in giving a clear view of what to expect. I also like to capture the beauty of a place to motivate people to travel and explore the world.

I still don’t have a clear answer to the question of why I do this, but probably the most sincere answer would be this: I just LIKE it
Thanks everybody here for support and motivation to move forward :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thank you so much :folded_hands:Yulia

I too love the diversity of the German landscape, from the coasts to the low mountain ranges and the Alps.

I was born on the west coast of Holstein,

have family members on the Baltic Sea and in Hamburg, and now live 900 km further south in the southern Black Forest near the :switzerland: border.

Congratulation Yulia @Yulia_Tikhanycheva
