Being a local guide is something that seems to slowly become a bigger part of your life with each review you post. Like many others, I started with that very first post because I felt passionate enough about a place that I wanted to tell somebody about my experience and thanks to Google, I have the ability to share my thoughts with others and help businesses by doing so.
I love that Google has given us, the everyday people a voice to share with others the best (and worst
) places we have discovered in our cities (and across the world) and truly share our excitement over the places that blow our minds. I predominately rate and review cafes and restaurants as our young family loves to spend time together by going out to eat and see what cool places we can discover. I actually get excited to praise a place that has made our experience wonderful because I know they will see it and hopefully it will bring them some more happy customers. It feels like in a small way I can pay it forward.
I love how much we as local guides can help support our community and get the word out about an amazing businesses that may not otherwise get the exposure they deserve. Before too long it becomes addictive and I find myself rating and reviewing more and more places. The coolest feeling though is when you see how many people have viewed or liked your reviews and that it is actually helping people to find out what is in their city in a way they never were able to when I was little.
Itβs a neat feeling when you feel like your reviews are making a difference and people value them because they trust Google. It really helps spread word of mouth and reward those businesses that go above and beyond for us, their customers.
If you have ever considered becoming a local guide, just jump in! You will start to love sharing and people will be thankful that you did.
