How do you change your email address for Google Maps Guides without loosing your status?

I am a Google Guide Level 7+ using this email address which I am trying to discontinue. I am also a Google Maps Guide Level 4+ on another, new, address. Is there a way of joining this address details to the new address in order for me to discontinue this address? I had a bad security breach about two years ago and Another a few days ago. I opened the new address to do my business. I only got Google Maps Local Guides left on this address before I could discontinue it. What must I do to accomplish this?

Hi @sampson786

there is no way to migrate your contributions from an address to another.

Also, according to the program rules, a Local Guide cannot partecipate to the program with more than one account, so please close one of the two account now, from here: https://maps.google.com/localguides/home/settings

You can of course uplodad your photos and rewrite your reviews on the new account.

Changing the address is not the issue. I am currently a Level 7 Guide (going for Level 8). If I change my address, then the new address will be Level 1 again. I have worked hard to get to Level 7 and would like to keep that status, but using the old account would give the hackers more status on me and that’s not what I want! Being so highly graded comes with a certain level of STATUS and I want to keep that, for sure. I think you would like to have the same if that happened to you. I don’t mind doing the former, but the latter is very important to me or anyone else at that level.

Anyways on the SETTINGS page, there is NO “change email address” option! So you are still busted there! Again, I am asking you, Ernest, if a hacker attacks your email TODAY and you have to change your email address, what would your status be??? NOT “Local Guide Moderator”! It would be “Level 1 Google Guide”!

Again, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL???

I changed some of my settings here again, including my username. I would discontinue both email addresses I current have for Local Guides - I haven’t done any postings for months on both of them for obvious reasons. I will restart on a new address, but I need to regain my status as LEVEL 7 GUIDE for obvious reasons. I don’t mind doing the former, but the latter is very important as I have tried to explain in the previous comments. So, until I can get a status transfer from Google to my NEW account (not the two old accounts which are currently dormant), I will not do anything except replying to this post. I am now in STRIKE UNTIL GOOGLE DO SOMETHING mode. I will reveal the new address when I got an answer from Google.

There is nothing that can be done in this situation as per the explanation of @ErmesT

There is no reason you cannot keep your Google Account secure and keep using it

  1. Do the privacy check https://myaccount.google.com/privacycheckup

  2. Read this and follow the instructions https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/46526

In the mean time if you choose not to contribute that is entirely up to you, only you are missing out in this case.

Please use the @ to tag the Local Guide you are referring to. In this way the person you are mentioning will receive a notification.

Follow the indication given by @PaulPavlinovich to secure your account. In addition, as confirmed by you: " both email addresses I current have for Local Guides" in this moment you are violating the program rules .

The setting page I shared with you was to show you the way to exit from Local Guides from one of the accounts, not to change your email address, as this is not actually possible.

I can perfectly understand the reason why you want to do that, and exactly with this kind of situations in mind a wrote, times ago, an idea for a Tool for transferring a Local Guide Account. Actually is just an idea.

The choice to not contribute is your personal choice, like the choice to violate the program rules .

According to the Local Guides program rules as @ErmesT and @PaulPavlinovich mentioned in their comments, Local Guides may participate in the program with one account.

Please follow these instructions to exit the program with the other accounts:

  • Log in to your Account and follow those steps to exit Local Guides
  • Click on three line menu
  • Click on Settings
  • Scroll down
  • Click on Exit Program

You can write your reviews that you had in the previous account in the new one. It will take a bit of time but that’s the only option as you cannot transfer.
