I am contributing from a laptop most of the time. It works fine, ut of course it is different than contributing from the App.
Just follow the indication of the help pages about the steps for adding different type of contributions: Contribute to Google Maps & earn points - Computer - Google Maps Help
If some of the steps mentioned in there is not clear just let us know, and we will provide more details

Depends on which workflow your used to, might need more time to adapt your self to a desktop workflow. For me a personally prefer using Android or iOS as it dose streamlined my workflow making it much easier .

@gen_z , yes the interface is different in desktop and mobile… Can you be more specific about the issue you felt when you were trying to make the contributions
