Here in Copenhagen a new metro line opened last month. Some of the stations were named after the square where they are positioned. That makes a lot of sense since it is an intuitive and logic name for everyone who knows where that original square is.
Most well known is the town hall square. The town hall square is used for a lot of different purposes and it is a landmark that many people navigate relative to. So to have the new metro station called “Town Hall Square” would be a big mistake. The town hall Square is something in it self and not primarily a metro station.
So I agree more with @Raphael-Mahumane who argues that we need to know more before recommending merging the two places in question in this thread. And this also includes which one should be the “main” one.
I’m leaning towards having more than one. And maybe have the metro one include the word Metro in addition to having a M icon on the map.
