I have a probleme when i want to upload a 360 degree picture in google maps for a place, without using Street View application.
I try to upload the picture and the operation start after a while i receive a message of an error of uploading the picture, i take the picture with a reflex camera and i stitch them with an apllication.
@NWD Can you try to upload the same file, that you had a problem with using the StreetView app and does it successfully upload (which means you can find the 360-panorama through Maps)…?
What about using Desktop Maps instead of the Maps app?
Also, try to upload that same file into Google photos. Does it display as a 360-panorama?
It’s too large! Please decrease it to 13312x6656 pixels (JPG, sRGB) and upload once again but through Street View app (there will be no problem with XMP data for proper displaying on various devices).
Indeed, @NWD , if it’s really about 174 Mp, the image resolution is about 18,660 x 9,330 or something. That’s too large. Although currently SV Help only defines the file size (in Mb) as the max (75 Mb), there used to be a pixel-size limitation, too, and maybe the system simply cannot handle this size.
Must have impressive details however even when zoomed in.
Can you upload such a picture to Google Photos? If it uploads fine, it should "behave as a photo sphere there, too. You can even share it with us here to see.
Also, you can directly upload 360 images via the map interface (just like any other, flat images). If the system recognizes them as 360 photos, they will also appear in the SV app where you can manage them into a virtual tour just like what you upload from there.
If it’s outside with sky without clouds it’s possible that 14MB is enough. JPG compression is very effective for images with no complicated details and “pure” color backgrounds. Some of 13312x6656 px panoramas with quality 10/12 from Photoshop have only 6MB, some others 25MB.
