Hi all,
Whenever I take a 360 video on my iphone through the street view app it films it with all the needed data then starts to import but when It reaches 100 %. it crashes.

Hi @ajwatson82
I see you already addressed your issue to the Support on Google Maps, and they sent you here.
As they told you, Street View is no longer supported in Local Guides Connect.
You should address your query on the new Street View trusted Help Center, accessible to Trusted Photographers only
Should you be not able to access the new Street View trusted Help Center, please let us know, and we will tag a Street View Moderator for granting the access to your profile.
However, checking on the Street View website, it appears that the Ricoh Theta Z1 works on Video mode only with the Android version of the Street View app
So I think that you should wait for an update of the Street View App.
Sorry about that
Hello @ajwatson82 ,
Please follow the tips suggested by @ErmesT to reach out to the new Street View trusted Help Center in order to get the help you need related to 360 video issue you’re facing.
That said I am marking his comment as the solution to your question and I am changing the topic label of your post to How-tos to keep Connect organized.
Thank you so much for your reply appreciate the help. Will wait for the update thank you! Hope you have a great year
Thank you for the feedback @ajwatson82
I wish I could have given you a more positive answer, but yes, it looks like you will have to wait for an update which I hope will happen soon.
All my friends on iOS suffer a lot from this kind of situation.
Thanks also to @AngieYC
Hi ermest,
I found iOS only supports single and interval mode. Android now supports single, interval and video (beta) mode. My Android always crashing if I try video mode. Any suggestion?
Hi @hafiz_bd ,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
It is possible to provide screenshot please to show us what happens when you try the video mode and where is this option available?
@hafiz_bd Are you using the same camera (Ricoh Theta Z1) mentioned in this post or a different one? Is your app updated to the last version?
Are you able to Connect your Camera? please check Set up and connect 360 cameras
Here is the list of steps for taking / downloading and uploading a Video in Street View: Capture and publish in Video mode with the Street View app
Hi ermest,
Yes, I am using Theta Z1 with the latest firmware. Using iPhone X pro and Samsung S10. All are updated to the latest version.
iOS
-
Not allowing me to take a video (screenshot-1)
-
Interval shooting makes photo-spheres but they are not connecting automatically (screenshot-2)
-
Clicking on the interval button, the first attempt always counting distance and time but not shooting at all (possibly a bug). However, the second attempt works and beeping while shooting.
Android
-
Strange! none of my Theta Z1 and Qoocam 8K is not connecting with GSV anymore. They were working/connecting yesterday.
-
WiFi is there and can connect via Theta and Qoocam app. Can take photos from Android devices.
-
But GSV can’t connect them. Restarted both phone and camera several time. No luck.
I want to make a blue line of a heritage trail and need the video support from GSV. As it is a 1.2KM trail, I have to capture and manually connect them which will be tedious OR pay 3rd party such as GoThru StreetBuilder. I appreciate your suggestion.
I see, @hafiz_bd
Is the theta app off when you try to connect the camera to the SV app?
Have you tried to set the phone to airplane mode? This will help to avoid the phone to try to connect to other Wi-fi network while you are using the camera.
Have you tried to clear the cache of the phone?
Regarding interval shots, they will not be automatically connected, because this function is no longer supported by the Street View App.
For more information about the changes in the Street View program, please check the new Street View trusted Help Center, accessible to Trusted Photographers only

I am tagging here @potaro67 , I am sure he can give you some advice
Hello, @ErmesT Thank you for inviting me to this article.
Hello, @hafiz_bd
I’m working with two android 11 smartphones and two Z1s.
Z1 has different firmware. (Currently 2.00.1 and 1.20.1).
And I publish the troubles that occur every day on various bulletin boards.
The function to shoot video with Z1 is the main method that can create a blue line by video capture with the SV app as a device compatible with Street View Ready.
https://developers.google.com/streetview/ready
https://thetaz1.com/ja/share/
However, there is always a bug.
There is one important thing I can suggest to you.
★ First, use the THETA app to shoot a short video.
This operation puts the Z1 in video mode.
RICOH officially admits that “the SV app has confirmed that the THETA Z1 cannot start video shooting when in still image shooting mode.”
However, it seems that the RICOH side cannot solve it.
The Google side (Street View Trusted Help) replied, “The operation on the Google side has no trouble on this issue. Because no one else has reported this issue here. That is a case that you should be resolved in consultation with the camera manufacturer,” written by the call center person who has never shot SV.
If the Wi-Fi connection between your smartphone and Z1 is still unstable, the following trials are effective.
・ Bluetooth ON / OFF
・ Mobile communication OFF (airplane mode)
・ Change of frequency band

The above comment refers to the fact that RICOH officially “almost never gets an answer when Ricoh asks Google about a problem with the connection between the SV app and the Z1.”
Z1 etc. are machines, but their physical condition changes every day.
When I play with it every day, it sometimes works correctly.
Please record the various settings at that time and study.
Hello, @hafiz_bd . Additional information.
I will talk about troubles when downloading video files to smartphones after successfully shooting videos with the SV app.
The behavior is different between the “Download Now” function, which pops up immediately after shooting, and tapping the thumbnail of the video to download it.
Please also pay attention to the stitch switch when shooting the THETA app.
In many cases, the download process is proceeding normally even if the download progress bar does not grow at all.
The progress bar display is almost always broken.
So, after you instruct the app to download, your behavior of not operating your phone for enough time that the download is likely to complete will help the Street View app to function properly in some cases.
If you do the same, the system will do the same.
However, the operation will change depending on the type and version of the device.
You need to find out by your own experience the settings that will work correctly in your environment.
――――
I imagine Google doesn’t have a quality department that ordinary software vendors should have.
So unless the user conducts field testing and gives feedback to Google, its quality cannot be improved.
I can use the “Street View Trusted Help One on One Service” at the URL below. However, it is a privilege only given to those who have drawn the blue line of Street View over 200km and those who attended the Street View Summit 2019 in London.
The following service entrances should behave differently depending on their rights.
https://support.google.com/street-view-trusted/contact/trusted
However, the call center contact person simply forwards the question to a Google engineer.
A reply that the contact has received the question will be sent to me immediately, but the information to resolve it will only be available when the engineer answers the contact person.
And Street View Trusted Help has clearly answered me that they tell the engineers not the content of the question, but the weighting proportional to the number of questions with the same content.
When I ask about the details, they send me the following information and their response to me is over.
“Using the feedback feature of the Street View app, that information goes directly to the engineer.”
Of course, there is no direct route from Google engineers to us.
If the engineer finds the information valuable, it’s just that the Street View system could be fixed in the future.
――――
Still, we should give feedback to Google.
They (neither Street View Trusted Help personnel nor engineers) are themselves filming. So they themselves are unaware that the system is having trouble.
――――
The current behavior of the Street View app is very messy.
My environment seems very sick today. Since I updated the THETA app yesterday, I imagine that the cooperation between the apps has not been successful yet.

Thanks ermest,
Yes, clearing the cache, finally I managed to connect Z1 to my android phone. But the video mode is in beta and crashing always. The GSV app showing endless downloading, sudden shutting down keeping the camera recording etc. I captured some screenshots and will share them with you.
By the way, I found the easiest way to do it by using Insta 360 X. The Insta360 ONEX app is great, can capture the video and upload it directly. Don’t need to use/open GSV. My works (tests) are still processing. Hopefully, it will work for my project. Thanks anyway for your help.
Hi Ermest and Potaro67,
Thank you very much for your long response.
My Z1 firmware: 2.00.1
Android app ver. 2.1.1.
I have managed to connect the Z1 with the WIFI. I shoot a short video first with THETA app. The beta video mode with SV is constantly crashing just after a few second of recording pop-up “recording complete” (screenshot attached). 2nd attempt is not starting any recording in the SV app, but the camera keeps recording mode (screenshot attached).
I tried Insta360 OneX, which has a GSV built-in functions with the OneX app. It works better with no such complexities as Z1. I managed to draw a blue line inside a neighbourhood park (screenshot attachment). Well, the issues here –
- The image resolution is poor.
- Tried a 3 min (max) shooting to avoid uploading issues. But some parts failed to process.
I need to capture a 1.2KM ling trail with various art installations and looking for a workflow with Z1 or OneX1. I need a workflow and better image quality. Can you please suggest any workflow/tutorial?
Thanks in advance for your support.
Hafiz
