How can I edit/correct the name of a pin that I created?

I hope a moderator will help me get this pin changed so it becomes possible for LGs to edit the title and other info. Kyklopen - nåleøjet Unnamed Road, 1401 København https://maps.app.goo.gl/QcEKiFp5rRMkVaF2A Thanks

Hey @MortenCopenhagen , I just clicked on the link and I can edit it with no problem.

Considering that you’re the only user who reviewed it, I’m going to presume that you are the one who added the place. Once an added place is approved, all Local Guides and Google Maps users can edit it, rate it, review it, add photos, and more.

I hope I was able to help!

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

the pin is editable to me too, as indicated by @Jesi

What do you mean with title? What is displayed is the Name of the business, on the way it has been added

Thanks, @Jesi and @ErmesT .

This is strange. @Jesi suggested that the pin was not published yet. But I already got this email indicating that it is published. And since you both can see and edit it, it must be published.

@ErmesT , I have also included some pics to document that the option to “Suggest an edit” is missing in three places: 1) In the 3-dot menu in upper right-hand corner, 2) No line “Suggest edit” under Overview and 3) No “Suggest an edit” button.

It is correct that I created the pin, I’m the only one who reviewed it and I’m the only one who added pictures. I would like to be able to suggest an edit to the name. But it is not possible. Could it be that Google implemented some kind of mechanism to block me from editing it because I’m the only one contributing so far? But it makes no sense. My guess is that it is a bug.

PS: All of the above is referring to my Android phone. I just tested on my PC and there I can edit. But it might still be a bug in the android app.

PPS: I’m good now and will do the edits needed on my PC. Thanks again.

Solution or Workaround. The problem was isolated to the Android Google Maps Application. By using another platform: PC/Laptop the pin became editable.

Yes that correct @MortenCopenhagen

When did your edit got approved?

The databases between the web version and the app need time so synchronize, so this can be the reason.

Of course, when you receive the email, the link is addressing you to the POI, but the POI may not be visible / accessible / editable for others for 24 hours

Your question, BTW, is a bit “tricky” as the correct question should be: “How can I correct an edit where I submitted the wrong name”?

That can’t be the cause since I tried over several days and more times excately to allow sync not to be the problem. But thanks again @ErmesT

Thank you very much @MortenCopenhagen

this will make the post easy to understand

Hmmnnn. From the PC i got to suggest a change to the name but it does not result in a Thank you or Published email. But I was able to suggest a website. So I guess the person who created a pin are not allowed to change the name. That’s my preliminary conclusion. It’s good to know or a bug.

I renamed this post again to really hit the bulls eye!!

You are always allowed to edit a name @MortenCopenhagen , as a mistake can always happen, and it happens several times, looking at the amount of post we have about the subject.

What you can also do is to “send a feedback”, informing the team about the mistake.

For more details you can read: Report an error on the map

Thanks @ErmesT . I can confirm that. Did you do some magic behind the scenes or was I somehow at fault? Feel free to clean up this thread.

Well, it doesn’t really matter @MortenCopenhagen

What is important is that the POI is live online now, and you, as everyone else, can now contribute.

Thank you for your effort on improving Maps

In any case, no, I am just a Local Guide like you, @MortenCopenhagen

Nothing magic, simple pragmatism

Hi @Ernest The pin looked editable to me yesterday. But now we are back to square one. I think we need a higher power to fix this. This is what I’m trying to achieve: Poi Abstract sculpture by Søren Georg Jensen https://maps.app.goo.gl/mt4ALCkFthywcW6S8 Should be renamed Danish: Kysset eller Øst møder Vest af Søren Georg Jensen English: The Kiss or East Meets West by Søren Georg Jensen Poi Kyklopen - nåleøjet Unnamed Road, 1401 København https://maps.app.goo.gl/LXgja1QjArhAk5Sx7 Should be renamed Danish: Kyklopen (nåleøjet) af Søren Georg Jensen English: Kyklopen by Søren Georg Jensen Would you care to give it a try? Or suggest what could be the next step. Ps I’m using the Android app since it seems more updated than other platforms.

Jubiiii. Finally the renaming of https://maps.app.goo.gl/mt4ALCkFthywcW6S8 was accepted and published. Thanks @Ernest , if you helped me out. The other one mentioned in the previous post is still an issue. Cheers.

Another Jubiiii. Today out of nowhere the last pin finally also showed up editable. I changed the name and it was published immediately. So good. Thanks if you made some magic, @Ernest . What did we learn: It takes time, patience and perseverance. Keep trying and suddenly one day you get it right. It should not be so difficult.
