Homemade Dinner for Working Mom

As we start work from home, our working hour become almost 24 hour. In a techie world, no more boundary or limitation. As a result, work hour become longer and office’s address is our phone number. So, for certain people, it is easier. But for working moms, they cannot put aside their responsibility to provide meals for the whole family. Though there already online food deliverer, but meal from our own kitchen is the best, especially if we still have preschool to middle school children at home.

So the best strategic to provide fresh and healthy food is to make them simple. Yesterday I try just to fry fishes and boil vegetables. This time I choose catfish and yellow fin tuna. I just soak them in wakter, put a small piece of tamarind and a half spoon of salt. I soak them for 30 minutes then fried them into medium rare condition. Why catfish? Because it is very easy to find and high protein.

As a condiment, I just boiled mustard greens. This is our fave vegee because it contain vitamins and a little bit bitter at the end of taste. It is easy to get this vegee in the supermarket.

As common in Indonesia, we cannot eat this tasty food without rice. I cook rice and add a sachet of Kongbap, a Korean mix grains. It is high in fiber.

That is our simple dinner. What is your simple menu for dinner, especially if you are working mom? Tell us in the comment below…

Thanks for the post @Marianis :slightly_smiling_face:

If I can make a small suggestion, it would be great if you can set the first photo to ‘large’ so it would be easier to look at the food. Btw, what kind of fried fish is that?

At first I thought that you had a red rice, Bu @Marianis

I’ve never tried Kongbap before, but from what I found, it is the combination of red rice with another kind of rice and grains, isn’t it?

How does it taste comparing to the usual white rice?

@Marianis I do not live near my mother. That’s why I make my own food. But whenever I go home on vacation.Eats mother’s handmade food. And always comes to learn to make something new .

My mother everything for me

I love my mother :hearts: :heavy_heart_exclamation:

Merely because it is practice and in a sachet, so I just add it on my regular white rice portion. It is like red rice but a little bit harder. Frankly I prefer white rice, but maybe in my age, it is better to consume red or black rice, less sugar and more healthy… how about you?

Yes Kongbap is mix grain, red rice and some other ingredients. There are three type but I choose Kongbap red rice :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow…wow…fried chicken and rice! It is also my favorite if I take my lunch in the office. Like it is always new everyday though I get it in the same diner nearby my office everyday :). Nowadays I try to make my fried fish. Sometime to fry fish is not easy, especially when its oil squirts, but because my imaination to consume fried fish and sambal and lalap, I do it :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @NitishG , it is nice knowing your statement that your Mom is everything for you. Homecook always great, right? How do you prepare your own food? Can you cook, or just take away food from diner nearby?
