Bún Mắm is actually a Vietnamese noodle but having a specific flavor that I think there are not any countries all over the world own it. The key of this noodle is the Mam, which is Mam Ca Loc (fermented fish past) or Mam Tom (fermented shrimp past). This dish has a strong flavor, so if you are not familiar with Mam, I think it’s quite hard to try it. But let’s try once, you may want to enjoy it more and more after the first taste.
A bowl of Bún Mắm includes rice vermicelli, shrimp, roast pork, squid, grilled fish, eggplant, vegetable, lemon and a special Mam soup that create a irresistible flavor.
Below is a our homemade Bún Mắm:

Amazing photos, @UyenHuynh !
These ingredients and the finished product look mouth-watering. I have definitely tried fermented fish in the past so I understand why it can be a challenge for some. The fact that this is homemade is even more impressive. Do you prepare/roast the pork yourself?

Hi @JordanSB , thank you for your compliments. Actually, my mom bought the roasted pork from the store, since it needs to have a big tool to roast the pork
You tried it, do you like it? ^^

Hi @UyenHuynh ,
Much appreciated for sharing the dish with us!
I think Bún mắm is probably a bit underrated, in comparison with other noodle/soup dishes in the Vietnamese cuisine. The example name of Vietnamese gumbo is really interesting, as well.
Kudos for the inclusion of such a wide variety of condiments in the dish, as also admiration for trying out the acquired taste, @JordanSB . : ]

Hi @UyenHuynh ,
Keen description and amazing photos of Mắm so that everyone including all travellers can understand and experience what the so-called Mắm is!
It can be said that all kinds of Vietnamese food in general and specific dishes in particular are very difficult for translation. Terminology of Mắm is too*.* Many restaurants in Vietnam use the word “Paste” to show this specialty of Vietnam cuisine.
There are about 13 types of different Pastes. I have gone to many countries and find that there is not any dishes similar to Mắm. Two most characteristic features of these Pastes are bad smell and strong taste. That’s the reason why so many foreigners dare not try them. Have you ever tried Mắm?
Regrettably I have an allergy to fish and Mắm!
