Welcome Community,
On 18 July, I will be heading to beautiful Sri Lanka for four weeks. That means there will be some great reviews and photos of hotels, activities and restaurants. If there are any places you would recommend that I visit in Sri Lanka, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know! I would really appreciate it if you could suggest some top places for me to visit! I’m going with four people on a tour of the country. We will start in Colombo and end in Negombo. We will take great photos and write reviews for Google Maps throughout the trip.
Project Sri Lanka will start on 18 July.

That sounds like an amazing adventure, @TimVerbeek1
Sri Lanka is full of incredible spots—from the vibrant streets and colonial charm of Colombo to the relaxing beaches and cultural sites in Negombo. Best Wishes.
Hi Tim!
Wishing you a big Sri Lankan welcome in advance!
Since you’re doing a full tour of the island, I’d love to recommend my hometown — Trincomalee — on the east coast. It’s a peaceful, scenic place filled with history, wildlife, and natural beauty.
Here are some must-visit places in Trinco you may want to include in your itinerary:
Deer Park – calm green space where wild deer roam freely Koneswaram Temple – a stunning clifftop Hindu temple with sea views Fort Frederick View Point – great for panoramic photos and spotting deer Swami Rock Dive Site – for adventurous diving or simply admiring the cliff views Nilaveli Beach & Salli Beach – quiet, clean beaches for sunrises and snorkeling Pigeon Island National Park – popular for coral reefs and underwater life Mattikali Lagoon Park – great for birdwatching and peaceful moments Kanniya Hot Water Springs – ancient springs tied to local legend Lovers’ Leap Viewpoint – a romantic cliffside view with history Trincomalee Jumma Mosque – beautifully located near the coast Dutch Bay Beach – close to town, ideal for sunset photography Thirukadaloor & Backwaters – for kayaking or lagoon-side photography Pathirakali Amman Temple – vibrant, colorful temple in the heart of town Local food spots – don’t miss Trinco-style seafood and street snacks!
If time allows, you can also consider short trips to:
Uppuveli Beach – another great beach just north of Trinco
Arisimale Beach (Pulmoddai) – untouched beach with golden sand
Seruwila Temple – one of the ancient Buddhist shrines of Sri Lanka
I’d be happy to suggest more based on your interests (nature, history, food, photography, etc.)
Looking forward to seeing your reviews and photos during Project Sri Lanka. Safe travels to you and your team!
