In this post I have shared the most interesting things I have done as a local guide.
As I am a Post Graduating student in PSB, Visva-Bharati, Sriniketan, West Bengal, India. During this year 2020 I found best place to celebrate holi in Birbhum district of West Bengal, India. The name of place is Sonajhuri haat, adjacent to Sonajhuri Forest where holi celebration is done in unique ways and most attractively. As a local guide I explored this place as well as I enjoyed holi celebration and sharing with you all as well.
During Holi celebration lots of people gather here. People from nearby and far away as well as foreigners come here to celebrate holi. This year 2020 celebration was little bit affected due to corona virus.
During Holi festival people don’t just celebrate with colours but also enjoy with singing and dancing. People join different musicians group and Santal tribal dance group.
Sonajhuri haat or Sabinar haat or Saturday weekly market is specially known as Santal tribal market because here Santal tribe sell their products like different hand crafted, fibre/clothes, wooden products, jwellers etc as well as entertain public by tribal dance. Interested people are allowed to join dance together. In tribal dance simple step is repeated in which body, hands, and legs are moved together which is unique and beautiful. Also in this area mostly tribal community are living. Santal tribe are one of the largest ethnic group found in the eastern states of India like Jharkhand, West Bengal,Odisha, Bihar, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram etc. and in other southeast Asian countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan etc.
