Historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel

Hello folks!

Today I want to tell you about my experience staying in this place a few years ago. Located in **Downtown Los Ángeles **not only is a piece of art by himself, this place keep in his walls many moments of LA history.

I had a beautiful week there surrounded by the magnificent of his different rooms, galleries y hallways. I don’t need a four or five stars hotel for my vacation, I prefer a room in a local house to share with locals. But I really wanted to be in this hotel, for his history and remarkable arquitecture of course, but what really moved to me to stay there? easy, this place was used to film many many movies, tv shows and Oscars awards ceremony too. What can I say?, I’m a huge fan of the industry. So I was there like a child in Disney (well or me in Disney  ).

This place opened in 1923 and in 1969 was designated a LA Historic - Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles.

As I said before the Millennium Biltmore Hotel was the early home of the “The Oscars” (8 ceremonies was held in the BH) and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was founded here in the Crystal Ballroom in 1927.

During World War II the Biltmore served as a military rest and recreation facility.

In this place in 1960 the Democratic National Convention chose John F. Kennedy as the party’s presidential nominee, and his acceptance speech was given here. He set up his campaign headquarters in the Music Room ( now the Looby).

The Beatles were here in their first U.S. tour in 1964, due to the numbers of fans in front of the hotel, they were forced to access their room by landing atop of the hotel their helicopter.

Is a lot of history right?

Many movies and TV shows were shooted in this hotel, well the list is huge, tv shows I remember: Castle, Scandal, NCISLA, 24, House, ER, Beverly hills 90210, The West Wing and more. Movies: Chinatown, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Independence Day, Ocean’s 11, Daredevil, Beverly Hills Cop.

I don’t know if I will be there again but I’m going to remember my time in Biltmore Hotel forever.

Great photos and information @SilvyC . Those high, ornate ceilings look absolutely amazing- a real nod to old school Hollywood glamour. Which was your favourite room?
