Historic Japanese Shinto Shrine: Hakone Shrine

Hello Local Guides,

I have visited the Hakone Shrine on last September, the shrine was an amazing, so I would like to share about it, so that many other Local Guides may feel interested to visit the Shrine, while they travel to Japan. There are so many tourists visiting the shrine every day.

The Hakone Shrine, which is also known as Hakone Jinja, is a Japanese shrine which is located on the bank of the Lake Ashi, in the town of the Hakone. The Hakone Jinja was founded in 757,during the reign of Emperor Kōshō. It is around 100+ Kilometers away from the Tokyo Station and quite a walk from the boat landing on Lake Ashi. The place is absolutely remarkable with an amazing view.

It was a raining when we arrived at parking lot of the Gongen Karamemochi restaurant in Hakone. The area has lots of steps to the shrine, so be prepared to walk. There are stone stairs takes you up to the hill to the ground of the shrine. It was busy on a weekend, while I was visiting the place.

The shrine is surrounded by big cedar trees. It was a peaceful environment, the forests and overlooking the Lake Ashi, the shrine offers a perfect combination of nature, history, and spirituality. It’s a magical and atmospheric place, hidden among tall cedar trees and surrounded by nature, the shrine feels mysterious and deeply spiritual.

You will find very big cedar trees on the both side of the entrance of the shrine are over few 100 years old, they are magnificent and you will feel spiritual and peaceful.

The shrine is not accessible, there is no ramp or path for wheelchair users, there are toilets on a restaurant at the sight of the shrine.
