The Hiroshima Castle is a gem of architectural beauty and historical significance.
I visited here in October 2023.
The castle is a symbol of Hiroshima’s rich history and cultural heritage.
Here’s the main entrance from the main street.
Like any other castle in Japan, this too has a wide moat around it.
Nowadays there is a permananet bridge to cross.
The next interesting thing is the super-wide wall of the castle premises.
There is a tactile map and also area maps all over the place.
This leads to a small staircase at the end of which is an interesting tree that appears to be welcoming in the traditional Japanese style by bowing down.
After this, I could get the first glimpse of the captivating beauty of the castle.
There is also a lavish and green garden around the castle.
I also saw a star-shaped pond with an island with trees.
Halfway to the castle from the main street is an accessible washroom toilet.
The castle’s stunning architecture, characterized by its majestic wooden structure and intricate details, is a sight to behold.
I’d love to go back here on the next trip to Hiroshima.
How to Reach
I took the free hop-on bus from the Hiroshima station using my JR pass and the bus dropped me right outside the entrance to the dome.
Where to Stay
I did not stay in Hiroshima. The entire circuit including time spent at the monuments was around 2 hours.
