Last summer, I finally checked off one of British Columbia’s most iconic hikes — Panorama Ridge — and it truly lived up to its name.
If you love alpine lakes, glacier views, and rewarding summit moments, this hike is something special.
Where is Panorama Ridge?
Panorama Ridge is located inside Garibaldi Provincial Park, between Squamish and Whistler, about 
1.5 hours drive from Vancouver.
The most common starting point is the Rubble Creek Trailhead, which leads you through forests, meadows, and eventually into jaw-dropping alpine terrain.
How Difficult Is the Hike?
Let’s be honest — this is not an easy stroll.

Distance (round trip): ~30 km -
Elevation gain: ~1,500 meters -
Time: 8–12 hours (depending on pace)
It’s considered difficult, mainly because of the distance and elevation. The first part is a steady forest climb, followed by stunning alpine sections that make you forget your tired legs.
I visited in summer, and the weather was perfect — clear skies, warm sun, and snow patches still lingering near the top.
Passes & Planning
During peak season (summer especially), you need a free Day-Use Pass from the BC Parks website to access Garibaldi Park. These are limited and usually released at 7:00 AM two days before your visit — and they go fast.

The Best Feature – That View of Garibaldi Lake
Nothing prepares you for the first moment you reach the top.
Standing on Panorama Ridge and looking down at the turquoise waters of Garibaldi Lake feels unreal. The color of the lake — that deep glacial blue — almost looks edited in real life.
From above, the lake curves beautifully beneath the surrounding peaks. In the distance, you can see glaciers and rugged mountain ridges stretching across the horizon. The scale of nature up there makes you feel small in the best possible way.
I remember sitting quietly on the rocks at the summit, just taking it all in. After hours of climbing, that moment felt earned. Peaceful. Powerful. Worth every step.
