Hi everyone,
As many of you might already know, adding and editing roads on Maps is one of my absolute favorite things to do. In this ongoing journey of making Maps more accurate for everyone, I recently had a wonderful experience that I would love to share with you all.
While contributing to the map recently, Suddenly caught my eye in the Nanzalein region of Myanmar. A major highway, about 12 kilometers long, was drawn completely incorrectly on the map. As you can see in the screenshot below, the road was mapped far away from its actual, real-world location.
Once I noticed this, I decided to fix it. I spent about 40 minutes carefully and precisely editing the alignment of the highway. To be honest, after investing that much time, I was a bit anxious and tense about whether this edit would get approved or not. However, to my absolute delight, the edit was approved in just four days!
We all know that highways hold a much higher significance on the map compared to local streets. An incorrect highway alignment can be deeply misleading and even dangerous for commuters, especially for those who rely heavily on Maps for live navigation while driving. Knowing that this small effort of mine will help make journeys safer for countless people brings me immense joy and satisfaction.
This isnât my first time, though. I have previously corrected several other incorrectly mapped highways that have already been approved, and a few more of my highway edits are currently pending review. I edited this long highway shown in the screenshot below in 2024.
Thanks for your continuous effort, i enjoy adding roads to make maps more accurate, when i just get bored i sit on my pc and starting adding, correcting roads, and that makes me feel good.
@Designer_Biswajit Congratulations on accurately mapping the 12-kilometer stretch of road. Many people will benefit from using the road you have mapped.
Editing long stretches of road is challenging, and often discouraged because the possibility of approval is comparatively lower. But when these roads get approved, it feels like a great achievement.
Do you edit roads in all parts of Myanmar, @Designer_Biswajit dada? I tried to edit roads in Rakhine state but they got declined.
Well done @Designer_Biswajit ji! Thanks for sharing your experience! Fixing a 12 km highway takes a lot of time and care. It is great to see your edit got approved in just four days.
I enjoy adding new roads, but I havenât done much editing of existing roads or highways. Congratulations on your success with a major highway @Designer_Biswajit.
Hello @AkterAshik
Thanks for encouraging me.
Anyway, I like your technique of drawing roads to relieve boredom. It does two things at once, relaxing and improving the map at the same time.
Hello @AbdusSattar
Thanks a lot for encouraging me always.
Anyway, I think what I did was part of our responsibility as local guides, because itâs our job to help people reach their destinations safely.
Happy Guiding.
