Highlights of where to visit in Wellington

Wellington, known in 2013 as "the coolest little capital in the world" through Lonely Planet, a small and windy city. Yet, there are some significant attractions to visit. There are few places I would recommend people to do when in Wellington (list order from high to low):

  1. Botanical Garden of Wellington, use Cable Car when going up and walk back to the city
  2. Executive Wings of Parliament - Beehive building (free entry, but book in advanced for a tour)
  3. Te Papa museum - for culture of NZ
  4. Mount Victoria Lookout - up by bus and walk back into town
  5. Weta Cave - film set productions for Lord of the Ring / Hobbit
  6. Wellington Zoo - to learn about animals and wildlife of NZ
  7. Zealandia Reserve - similar to Wellington zoo but more nature
  8. Makara Wind Farm - to look at the wind turbine
  9. Brooklyn Hill (one wind turbine)
  10. Mount Koukou - for people who loves trekking/hiking. The view back to Wellington town is beautiful!

There are more to see but I believe you also want to rest. Cuba streets for drinks, parties and meet-up, go shopping on Lambton Quay and enjoy Sunday market (fresh fruits/vegetables on the water front or Wellington Harbor. On the way to the airport, there is a sign of Wellington (similar to Hollywood of USA). After Wellington, you can either take a ferry through Cook strait to Picton of South Island or flight out to any major city - Christchurch, Queenstown or Auckland.

Btw. people at Wellington are very friendly!
