I hope they unlock me from posting reviews on Google Maps for locations that I visited because I always give my honest opinion without offensive or spam, and the AI never understands me. I hope the appeal will not take more than few weeks to be reviewed…
If you haven’t already, do share the problems you have on Connect. You can use the Google Maps Tips & Tricks category and the How-tos and Best practices tags for your post.
Share a few links or screenshots of your reviews that have been rejected, a link to your Google Maps profile (make sure your contributions are shared publicly) and hopefully the community can help with your situation ![]()
Okay sure, if you can have a look and tell me why the AI labels my reviews as fake engagement of locations I visited it would be great, it’s happening a lot to me lately… I attach screenshots (you may use Google Translate If u need to translate my Romanian reviews) Thanks you. Sorry for the late reply.
As I had advised previously, it’s best to create a separate post for your concerns because it is not related to the previous post that you wrote your comments in. It always helps to write your posts under the correct categories, tags and title so that it’s easier for people to find, discover and join in. As such, I’ve split your comments out into its own post. Unfortunately, I had to also create a new title for this post. Can you please check that it accurately describes your query? If not, feel free to change it.
To change the title of the post, tap on the pencil icon next to the title.
You don’t need to change the category or tags.
It’s hard to tell what’s causing your review to be rejected.
Are you posting them quite quickly one after another? I used to write all my reviews in a text editor and then copy+paste them to Google Maps to submit them but I do worry that if I am submitting so many reviews so quickly, Maps’ spam filter may think I’m a bot. So I usually don’t post too quickly and only a few a day.
Also, are you submitting your reviews whilst you’re still at the location or later on in a different place once you have the time to compose your review?
I know that some Local Guides have problems when they submit a review with photos because if one of the photos is rejected, the review is also hidden. But I usually don’t have this problem. And it looks like you’re not adding any photos to your reviews.
Do you know if your mobile’s GPS is working properly? You can check your Timeline in Google Maps to see if your location history matches those places (or is closed enough).
You can also try editing your reviews and changing a few words here and there or rephrasing your sentences. Re-submit your edited review and see if they go through. However, if you had requested the Google team to review your rejected reviews, you should NOT make any changes and give them time to check your reviews.
You can find out more info here too.
Other, than that… I’m not sure why it’s getting flagged up and rejected.
Thank you, I confirm that your forum labeling is correct. Now I’m only hoping for someone to give me some advice on what to do as AI keeps rejecting all my reviews of locations that I visited for “fake engagement”. I even used Google tool to check for account restrictions and it said: None. I then submitted an account appeal on Google Maps for rejected reviews (that was about 2 weeks ago), but no one got back to me and the AI still rejects my reviews. Ultimately, I sent feedback about 3 times via the Android app of Google Maps for this issue, robot said “feedback was sent successfully”. But that was all, and my issues with reviews keeps going on.
From my own experience, I didn’t get any notification to say that my account has been reviewed. I, too, had filled in the form to get my hidden reviews check. But to be transparent, I have not checked since then to see if my hidden reviews are back to being public again. I’ve just been too busy ![]()
Oh, I see. I keep receiving emails from Google every week though saying “Your review was not posted” due to “AI labeling it as fake engagement”, it asks me if I want to appeal or not for each one. And even if I appeal for some of them, I then get email back saying “AI has canceled your appeal because the review is not posted”, that for me doesn’t make much sense and it just shows me the AI ain’t smart at all.
