Hey! Have you been to great Nigeria?

As a storyteller, I like to create experiences for people through every medium I use. This part of me has come into play as a Local Guide as I try to capture the places I visit in short explanatory reviews to give the reader an insight to what s/he should expect when they visit the place.

I put 3 things into consideration when writing my review;

  1. Is it a general truth or my opinion? โ€“ it should not be biased
  2. Is it explanatory to 5 years old? โ€“ I must use simple English so it can be easily translated
  3. Will it elicit the emotion(s) I feel? โ€“ I must try to capture my feelings in those few words so as to pass it to the reader

I also try to put the safety of the audience in mind and at the same time, try to debunk the stereotypes connected to my country.

I love being a local guide and am so happy that through my visit to places, I can help someone else to make informed decisions on where to go and places to visit especially if new to Nigeria.

I have always longed to tell my countries good side and Google local guide program has given me the opportunity to do so across the world.

The Google Local guide has also helped me add places that matter to the map, new and old places that have not been recorded. I have even corrected some places.

Answering the question of what does the GLG mean to me, I would say it has given me a voice to tell my countryโ€™s story through its sight and sounds amongst other things.

Hit me up whenever you are in Lagos or Abuja and need a buddy to take you to some special yet local places amidst the classy places.
