Headache because of many fake bank locations.

When I checked a bank where I usually do cash transactions in the city I live in, I discovered that there were nearly 40 bank & ATM locations (in reality, there was only 1 bank & 2 ATMs next to the bank and 1 more ATM located in another area), these “fake” locations even verified the business.

Note: image of the number of “fake” locations covering my city area.

Note: when checking location information, the “business verification” section does not appear, indicating that it has been verified (although it is unclear why the location is verified as not real).

Currently all of the above locations are tagged as “temporarily closed” except for the real locations, the number of these locations is so large (not counting other banks) that I find it discouraged to report this continuously, do guides and operators have any suggestions? Thanks for listening.

Hi @NgocVu3822

This is bad. Such behavior to create fake banks and ATMs is likely the reason why adding and editing such places was made very difficult. I imagine that they could have been added to trick or fool customers to believe scam calls was coming from a bank as Google shows the scammers phone number on Google Maps.

Let me tag @DeniGu for you. I think we need some guidance on how best to help solving such problems. Obviously trying to close them permanently or as fake is not working. The redressal form is not leading to any action, so what instruments are we left with? Would sharing a list of fake banks and or ATMs be helpful?

Cheers

Hi @MortenCopenhagen ,

I wouldn’t dismiss the redressal form in a situation like this one, which involves financial institutions.

@NgocVu3822 , please try filling out the Business Redressal Complaint Form where you can add the links to every branch and ATM you believe doesn’t really exist.

Alternatively, you can share links to the places here. It’s hard to determine what the issue is without the URLs. Thank you!

Hi @MortenCopenhagen , When I checked the information of these fake locations, I didn’t see any phone numbers other than the official website of the bank, which is weird.

Hi @DeniGu , I need further assistance when putting map links on this support page and it requires a more specific location on my computer (I’m on a mobile device)

.

In my experience the redressal form only works from a computer, @NgocVu3822

We have seen scammers create pins for later use.

As they are claimed you could ask the banks to clean up.

Cheers
