Have you ever imagined what it would feel like to attend the Yule Ball while watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? Well, a couple of weeks ago I attended the new experience created by Warner Bros. and Fever: “Harry Potter: A Yule Ball Celebration”, there were only four selected cities: Milan, Montreal, Houston and Mexico City, It will be open until the end of February 2023.
As a Harry Potter fan I created a Google Maps list Potterheads in CDMX it has some places in Mexico City (CDMX) that potterheads will love, there are themed cafeterias and restaurants and during this christmas season there are some activities in a few malls in Mexico City, you can feel like you are in Hogsmeade and try your Quidditch skills, maybe I’ll try that next week!
So, as I was telling you about “A Yule Ball Celebration” , the chosen place was a building in the historic center of Mexico City and it was amazing, we first entered to the the lobby and it was great to see that it had that Hogwarts look, the place had Triwizard Tournament decoration everywhere as in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”, it was really easy to see the Hogwarts crest between the Beauxbatons and the Durmstrang ones in a lot of places.
A lot of people were asking about the dress code on social media and it was up to you but the organizers encouraged to dress up for the occasion, even if you look as your great aunt Tessie, there were people with dresses, I took my Gryffindor robe and my wand and I was no alone, many people were wearing robes of all houses and of course people with muggle clothing. It was funny to notice people were looking at me when walking down the street with my robe, it felt as if I were taking photos for Local Guides hahaha.
There was a bar in the entrance and I couldn’t resist to buy a butterbeer, it was delicious and I ended up with a big foam mustache, later we were told we could enter the ballroom, our hosts were introducing themselves and the prefects of every house, then it was time to dance and every house had its own dance moves for a battle of houses. Here are some photos of that day:
You could ask to a prefect to write your name and put into the Goblet of Fire, to be selected as King or Queen of the Yule Ball, In my experience it is a great option if you want to do something different, I went with my cousins and we had a great time setting the mood for the end of the year! Now, tell me, which Hogwarts house do you belong to?
Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays!
