So during pandal hopping in Behala, Kolkata, I went to the Behala Debdaru Fatak Club Durga Puja Pandal. It was nice, but after I came out, I saw various small shops of street food, toys, ice cream, juices, etc. This was the perfect place to support small businesses.
One shop, or you can say stall, caught my attention; it was looking unique and different from others. It was a handicraft items shop. The items were so vibrant and colourful that they were seeking the attention of me and others present there.
There were so many colourful handicraft items, including plates, hand fans, cups, flutes, clothes and many more items. Here the saddest part is that this shop is run by a father and her daughter, probably 13 or 14 years old. She was painting some more items sitting there; she said that she goes to school, but due to the Durga Puja holidays, she’s doing it because of their financial condition.
Life is not the same for everyone; holidays mean someone’s joy but someone else’s pain. May God bless her and all the children like her. As I am a parent of so many orphan girls, I can understand what they feel. There is no parking zone in this area.
Accessibility
#AccessibleBharat
This shop is fully accessible; you can access it through a wheelchair and can experience the colourful items.
Although via our NGO and other NGO networks, I can provide her help. In your opinion, how can we help children like her?

I should appreciate your support for small businesses like this on Google Maps @Shaunak .
How can we support them?
I am talking as to support them on Google Maps. In recent talk of @Globe_trotter_Ish at Connect LIVE, she told us how she support small businesses; even though they might not have a board or sign. She also told us that she wrote the business name on a paper and placed it in a wall where business is and took a photo & upload it to Google Maps.
As the they don’t have board sign, this way is good practice to support them on Google Maps.
How can we support children like her on Google Maps?
As business owner should be above age 18 to have a business profile, it wise to create a profile under parents, guardian or supported NGOs name. They can change ownership to respected person once that person becomes eligible to have a business profile.
Also speak with parent or guardian to take necessary steps.

Ohh… great… God bless you, dear @Shaunak
Very touching post.
Her handcrafted items may not look fully mature… Still they’re colourful and beautiful…
Appreciate her talents
Well, there are lakhs of such talents in our country - along with NGOs, Government also should involve to recognise such talents, provide proper TRAINING and support them to market their products… Say: giving opportunity to take part in exhibitions, etc.
Of course, as our @Rahul001 has explained, LGs can help in their way…
I admire your enthusiasm and dedication to bring out such posts… highly appreciate it.

Great initiative @Shaunak and thanks for raising this topic. According to my opinion, I should say that as per small girl’s story who was helping her father should get constant support in order to fulfill her dreams because the way she is struggling with her dad, one day she should make her father proud by fullfilling all her and her father’s dreams so that her father will be proud of her daughter. Remember, every girl and women in our India is an incarnation of goddess Durga and we should treat each and every women with huge respect and dignity. And, may maa Durga bless that little girl and make her dreams and hopes come true. Jai Maa Durga

Thank you for sharing this beautiful post @Shaunak I was very happy to read it because at a very young age she became an entrepreneur and she is willing to help her parents. And we should give a big applause to the parents as they are encouraging the child.
I think we can promote these young entrepreneurs by buying their items and also posting it on Social media.

Very nice pictures and good post @Shaunak . Thanks for sharing the story about this shopkeeper. Really it is pathetic to hear that a school goer sitting and working. She will truly come up in life. Our generation too that was the life for almost everyone except for a very small percentage of people are rich. Struggles gave us the courage to improve and come up in life. Only thing is these people should get apart from help, encouragement and recognition. God bless you for your good work.
