Hakusan Mountain is one of the three holy mountains in Japan, which including Mount Fuji (富士山), Mount Haku (白山) (The White Mountain), and Mount Tate (‘standing mountain’). We went there in a group of 8 students last summer and it was an unforgettable experience for all of us.
It was a really enjoyable trip to this fantastic site since we chose the most challenge hiking trail to the peak of this mountain. What surprised us is there is no garbage or leftover along the trail, every hiker brings their stuff to the top and carries its leftovers to the ground. The trail is really challenging with only two rest areas with bathrooms. Hikers can drink water leaking from the small streams originated from the peak. However, it rewards extraordinary views with a lot of wildflowers and birds.
We stayed in the Murodo Lodge for one night. Next morning, hikers start to wake up at around 3:00 AM and climb to the peak to observe every minute of sunrise. There is also a priest from a small shrine of the peak to make the ceremony and pray for wellbeings.
Thank you for sharing, this is truly a very beautiful mountain. Is it hard to reach the spot where you were?

Thank you for your help, much appreciated. I could have done so many editing steps at the same time. And thank for your suggestions for a more suitable place.
It depends on the trail you take, most elderly and children do not take the Ichinose Campground (市ノ瀬野営場). So the views could be different. It’s kinda dangerous for unexperienced hiker trying Ichinose trail. However, as I said, it really worth it. Fantastic views and breathtaking atmosphere
It is not convenient to reach the mountain from Kanazawa, however, there is a Shinkansen railway under construction, I hope enthusiastic hikers come to Japan take this trail a try.
Thank you for the additional information and tips. I’ve been to Japan once back in 2016 and I’ve manage to visit Mount Fuji. Though, I’m there just to enjoy the scenery because I don’t have enough time to go along the trail up to the mountain.
Here is a shot of the great Mount Fuji that I manage to take.
This is such a beautiful experience. Thanks for sharing these special moments with us. I especially feel like the pictures uniquely capture the “mood” of the Sacred Mountains. Maybe one day I will visit too!
