I know the story of this structure, it is famous for its large dome. I have been in Istanbul just for 2 days and I didn’t visited. Your pictures are beautiful and reveals a very interesting position of this building, close to the sea.
Thank you @Mohamedsalah25 , in general for your posts and for the precious description and details.

Hello @Mohamedsalah25 ,
Thank you for sharing these amazing photos with us. To me, Hagia Sophia is one of the most beautiful and spiritual buildings in the whole world.
Personally, I like very much the mix between Christian and Muslim motifs.
I’m sharing with you a photo that I took during my first visit to Hagia Sophia back in 2012.

Hagia Sophia is a unique place. I particularly love the mix of Muslim and Christian there. Such things are always fascinating. In Ukraine, I came across a church that was turned into a mosque and then became a church again.
I see you like sharing lots of pics, @Mohamedsalah25 . Be careful as Connect has a limit on the number of pics uploaded directly to the platform (1000). You could save some space by excluding several similar photos (by the way, one photo is duplicated in this post). But if you decide not to use some uploaded photos in your posts, be sure to delete them from your profile ( go to your profile - Photos - More. Pics that are not used in posts will have no speech balloons when pointing on them
).

Hello @YuliiaZa
thank you very much for your comment & advise about the limitation of photos
i know it this 1000 limit and still play within limits
for the places which mixes between muslim & christian , i saw it many times in Khemilensky in Ukraine

Hello @Mohamedsalah25
I have studied about Hagia Sophia in History of Architecture one of the prerequisites for getting a degree in Architecture. I know about how magnificent it is its dome construction. It is one of the very best of byzantine Architecture.
Thank you for giving me a first hand photograph of this building.
Best regards.

You’re welcome @Mohamedsalah25 .
About the scaffolding inside Hagia Sophia, I have no idea! However, my brother went there few months ago and it was still the same. Looks like a never ending story! I guess, renovating such a place is not an easy task to do.

@Mohamedsalah25 , I was just worried that one day you just won’t be able to upload images. Glad you are aware of the limits.
As for the crescent on crosses, I have seen them multiple times. There’s no unanimity in explanations, so I can just name some of them (order is irrelevant):
-
showing that Christianity is older than Islam;
-
showing that Christianity is bound/subordinate to Islam (when Muslims temporarily conquered Slavic territories)
-
symbol of the Mother of God;
-
symbol of the Bethlehem cradle (Christ’s cradle);
-
symbol of a chalice (a special cup used for communion).
I know some of the churches on your photos: Christ’s Church in Moscow, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood and St. Isaac’s Church in St. Petersburg. And it feels like I’ve seen the church in the right bottom field but cannot recollect the name and location. Help me refresh my memories, please!
