A major tourist attraction in my town (Vevey): La Fourchette
La Fourchette (The Fork) - Héroïne du Léman in Vevey is a monument that was built in 1995 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Alimentarium: the world’s first museum dedicated to food by Nestlé.
Located on Quai Perdonnet it has been a Vevey landmark since 2014.
I’m living at 5 minutes by walk and I always enjoy seeing it with different skies and mountains in the background.
Commissioned from artist Jean-Pierre Zaugg by the foundation of Vevey’s Alimentarium museum, this giant kitchen utensil measures 1.3 metres wide by 8 metres high.
Made entirely of stainless steel, the Fork weighs 450kg.
In 2014, it was validated as the world’s largest fork and awarded the famous Guinness World Record. At 8 meters tall, it easily overtakes the Japanese fork with a record of 2.15 meters.
On Google Maps, La Fourchette, have 4.6/5.0 and almost 2000 reviews.
