To my surprise and delight, Foxtel have been building an amazing mock cemetery right in the heart of Sydney’s Centennial Parklands; which happens to be right near my home. The free pop-up exhibition is a secret surprise three day only event, so I made sure I went to see it on the very first day. I loved it so much, I went back again on the second day.
Here are some PHOTOS and videos I took during my stroll through the incredible Westeros cemetery.
See if you can remember all of the fallen characters from this popular series. Each tomb stone has their name, a quote, how they died and the episode it happened. It truly is a beautiful gift for fans of the show and looks eerily so real.
"Foxtel invites you to come pay your respects at the Grave of Thrones, to honour the thousands who have played the game and lost. The final resting place of some of your most beloved, and your most despised, the cemetery captures the world of Westeros in a way that has never been seen or experienced.”
Hahaha. Definitely NOT missing Joffrey. I can’t believe they made this incredible event for just three days. It took them 10 weeks to make everything. FOXTEL are only keeping three of the sculptures and then will auction off the rest.
Wow. This is just amazing, @PennyChristie . The photos are really great. I am getting so many recommendations from my friends recently about this show and how awesome it is. Many seems much excited for Season 8. Planning to see this show soon. Thanks a lot for sharing!
That is surreal @PennyChristie ! It looks so real. As in this mock graveyard has been there for centuries, aged and weathered so beautifully. I would be touching at least one of the tombstones because the stones looks so real. Lol.
@KarenVChin The whole “mock” cemetery looked SO real. The people who made everything and put it all together are the actual set designers and prop makers from films like Aquaman.
Foxtel is Australia’s only cable tv company. They told me they will be putting the two large mausoleums and Joffrey’s head in their main office and will probably auction off the rest of the tombstones.
