If you too, like us, are hunters of the pot full of gold, which is where a rainbow begins, well, the island of Gran Canaria is the perfect place to hunt for treasure. On the days we were on holiday in Maspalomas, in December, we followed twice the afternoon thunderstorms that develop inside the island when the Atlantic clouds slam against the high mountains condensing into rain. And the reward that the island has given us in different places is its rainbows. We tried to reach the points where the rainbows were born, knowing that there the gnome was hiding a pot full of gold, but evidently he moved it very quickly and we could not find the treasure. But the treasure remained in the photos we managed to take, landscapes that are very reminiscent of the classic Christmas nativity scenes with the bright colors of the rocks of Gran Canaria. I hope you enjoy them!
Photo 6: we have arrived where the rainbow was born, we are sure, but there is no trace of the pot of gold and the rainbow has vanished, the gnome has already moved the treasure!
My dearest friend @TravellerG this is the December 2019 trip to the Canary Islands before Covid. We hope to return. In a few years we been visit Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and La Palma. We are thinking about how much things will been changed in La Palma island after the eruption of the volcano last year !!
We usually go in December, which is to say in winter. The Canaries enjoy a climate that does not vary much in the various seasons and in December we are sure to find temperatures around 20/22 degrees Celsius, reaching around 28/30 in the south of Tenerife and Gran Canaria. In the north of the islands a few degrees less but much greener. Then each island has its own special feature. Lanzarote has practically no trees and is a fantastic volcanic expanse. With Fuerteventura it is very windy and therefore much cooler in winter max 20 degrees. Gran Canaria and Tenerife have high mountains that stop the clouds therefore they also have water and temperatures at the maximum reach 35 degrees in summer. However, for me they would be ideal to live as a retiree !!!
I recommend dear @plavarda : if you ever find this pot of gold, remember me that I have to buy myself a new bicycle!
Congratulations for the beautiful photos and the beautiful rainbows!
Bye,
David
