Gordes is definetely one of the iconic place to visit if you are around the provence area, you need to go there and see it by yourself. This unique place is famous for the castle and their stone homes and path. It lies inside the Parc naturel régional du Luberon.

This place was existing since a very long time but developed from 11th century once the castle was built as well as fortification walls.
You will notice as well lots of walls that are built 100% by stones, they did not use any mortar for their construction.
It is really hot in summer so make sure you stay well hydrated, as the visit is mostly outdoor under the stunning sun. I get dark tanned last time i went and my skin was burning so put as well tons of sun screen and wear your hat.
