In my opinion, that’s a trivial issue.
In any case, you can disable Google Translate through browser setting in Google Chrome which reads “Offer to translate pages that aren’t in language you read”.
Other browsers will also have some similar functionality. Even after switching off the automatic offer, you can still use the translator by clicking the three dots at the top and then selecting translate option.
In any case, the connect site allows the use of the built-in translator & hence you need not invoke the one offered by the browser.
Do you mean to say the Connect translator also hides your profile icon? However, that’s far away from both the icons (the one at the header and the second in the post).
Further, the Connects translator is nothing but a tweaked version of Google translate. Only the @ modifier plays a spoilsport sometimes.
Also, the Connect translator is not having an option to scroll horizontally. But since you use English by default, even that can’t be a problem for you.
In your screenshot, the google translate is covering the search box and not the Connect translate. These are two distinct items. You can switch off the Google translate bar. The Connect translate is a small box with a drop-down button and comes in action only when you click on that.
If you do not switch off the Google translator, that will pop up not only on Connect but other non-English sites too. For that reason, I have kept that off and that has stopped bothering me.
