Hi

I’ve published my first review ever, but it’s not showing to the public. Please help.

Hi @AbuOmar

Welcome to Connect.

The spam filter is always extra sensitive towards accounts with very few contributions. Simply because spammers often create new accounts to share fake reviews.

Please check your text and attached photos by reading this

And keep writing honest and helpful reviews, the I’m sure they will start showing up.

You can also use these 4 questions to check your reviews.

@AbuOmar you can always edit the review multiple times until it goes public. Read up on MortenCopenhagen’s suggestions and take out any words you think might be causing the issue. I have done this many, many times and the review suddenly goes public just by removing a few words. Best of luck

Is the post selected under appropriate category? Is any change required?

Is should be in Google Maps tips & tricks with the how-tos tag.

@StevenBerlin and @AbuOmar while it is certainly important to understand and obey the rules in the first place, “take out any words you think might be causing” not always solves the issue (after removing all attached media). It seems the SPAM filter also watches many things not being described in the rules.
Therefore I was more successful with a more pragmatic, yet systematic approach:

  • I copied the complete review to a text file on my PC
  • Deleted half of the text in the review
  • Wait up to 2 minutes while refreshing the browser several times until the review is accepted
  • If, after 2 minutes the review is still hidden, repeat the two steps above reducing the text even more
  • If the review finally is accepted, continue to add some phrases and repeat the process until I an able to pinpoint a single word.

In one case, I was able to publish the review just be removing a single hyphen ( - ). Don’t ask my why, but afterwards I tested it by adding the hyphen again and the review was hidden again.

@WilfriedB yep, exactly what i do. It is very sensitive and just keep removing things which might be unnecessary until it goes public
