We’ve recently seen the power that video meetings have to bring our community together no matter where they are in the world. You all have been hosting some incredible virtual meet-ups, and we have some great news to help you continue to do so.
Google Meet, the premium video conferencing product, is now free for everyone, with availability rolling out over the coming weeks. Starting in early May, anyone with an email address can sign up for Meet and enjoy many of the same features already available to business and education users.
You can use the simple scheduling and screen sharing features, in addition to real-time captions and layouts that adapt to your preference, including an expanded tiled view.
This is a good news @KatieMcBroom ! during the pandemic, I don’t install any platform but hangouts. Now it’s time to install Google Meet. Thanks for the update
I was so glad for this because it helped me setup for my meetup stress free using my own gmail account. It’s easy to use, and easy to schedule meetups then share with other people. While on the meet if someone is talking, it’s nice to use the chat and addition real-time captions. Thank you for sharing.
Every local guide is thankful to Google thinktanks who would have taken this well in time decision, for making this App free of cost available to everyone.
But still you should accept this thing that Google should have taken this decision 30-40 days prior as already competitor has eaten a big market share of Google Meetup App.
Awesome @KatieMcBroom great opportunity for all, especially for us (Local Guides) to arrange a virtual meeting to meet friends & family in this crisis time of Covid 19. Thanks Google.
I’m actually doing boy scout activities since early April using zoom (I have to admit that I don’t personally like it, but every one is using it), but now with this, we are totally changing because is extremely secure.
