Today I tested Google Maps with Gemini, and honestly, it works very smoothly now.
While I was driving and using navigation, I just talked with Gemini**“gasoline”** in the Gemini panel, and Google Maps instantly showed all the nearby gas stations along my route — including TotalEnergies and Savimex.
Even during navigation mode, Gemini can:
- Search nearby places
- Pin locations along your route
- Show distance and time added (+5 min, +6 min)
- Update automatically when you refresh
- Detect if the station is Closed or Open
This is exactly how AI should support Maps — fast, simple, and helpful while driving.
For Cambodia, this is a big improvement because before, these features didn’t work smoothly. Now they work almost like live assistant inside Maps.
I will continue testing to see how well Gemini supports travel, navigation, and search in real-time across Phnom Penh and beyond.
If anyone wants to try:
Just open Gemini panel → type the place you want → results appear inside Maps while you navigate.
This shows Google is improving AI integration for Maps in our region step by step.
