Hi All,
Yesterday Google announced some new interesting features on Google Maps. Please see this post: Stay informed on the go with new updates from Maps and Waze.
It will soon be possible to hit some new buttons if traffic stops due to road accidents, congestion, or construction work to let fellow Maps users know about the situation.
Secondly, when you’re driving to a place, Maps’ new destination guidance will automatically light up your building and its entrance as you approach it, in addition to showing you nearby parking lots. I like this. Hopefully it will roll out quickly.
Thirdly, Google Maps will soon be able to warn drivers if you’re approaching a camera that snaps pictures for things like speeding, running a red light, using the wrong lane (like bus, HOV, or carpool), not wearing a seatbelt, or using phones while driving.
As a cyclist and pedestrian, I’m not happy about this. It could mean that speeding gets words when there are not cameras.
What do you think about these new features?
Cheers
Morten
