Google Maps & My Journey with Connect Roadmap Challenge

Hellow Guys,

As per @TusharSuradkar sir Challenge of “Connect Roadmap - Speak Your Heart Out on Doodle Day“.

I’m gone excited and share my journey with you and sharing my thoughts with you as local guide.

Here are below answers of challenge as per my point of view and Contributions:

*1. What was your most memorable journey or discovery while using Google Maps ?*

One time I was in Polo Forest and stumbled upon a tucked-away teahouse that had barely any reviews. Google Maps led me down a narrow alley, past a bamboo grove, and into this serene little spot where the owner served matcha with such care it felt ceremonial. It wasn’t on any tourist list just a gem I found thanks to Maps.

*2. What kind of contribution do you enjoy making the most?*

Photos, hands down. A good photo can tell a story instantly whether it’s a cozy café corner, a vibrant street mural, or a dish that looks too good not to share. I love capturing moments that help others visualize the vibe of a place before they go.

*3. If you could add One new feature to Google Maps, what would it be and why?*

A “local favorite” toggle. Not just top-rated places, but spots locals actually frequent like that no-frills diner with the best dosa or the bookstore with handwritten staff picks. It would help travelers experience cities more authentically.

*4. Tell us about a time when a contribution you made helped someone else in a significant way*

I once reviewed a wheelchair-accessible entrance to a museum that wasn’t obvious from the street. A few weeks later, someone commented thanking me they were traveling with their elderly parent and said my note saved them a lot of stress. That felt incredibly rewarding.

*5. What’s the Most surprising or interesting thing you’ve learned while contributing to Google Maps?*

How much small details matter. Things like whether a café has Wi-Fi, outlets, or vegan options might seem trivial, but they can make or break someone’s experience. It taught me to be more observant and considerate in my reviews.

*6. Which type of business or place do you most enjoy reviewing?*

Independent coffee shops. They each have their own personality from the music to the mugs to the barista’s latte art. Reviewing them feels like documenting little slices of culture.

*7. What advice would you give to a new contributor just starting their journey?*

Start with places you genuinely care about. Don’t worry about being perfect just be honest and specific. Mention what you liked, what could be better, and any tips for future visitors. Your voice matters more than you think.

*8. Is there a specific place you’ve contributed to that holds a special meaning for you ?*

There’s a small park near my childhood home where I added photos and a review. It’s not famous, but it’s where I learned to ride a bike and watched countless sunsets. Sharing it felt like preserving a piece of my personal history.

*9. What motivates you to keep contributing to Google Maps?*

Knowing that my input can make someone’s day easier or more enjoyable. Whether it’s helping them find a great meal, avoid a tourist trap, or discover a hidden gem it’s like being part of a global community of explorers.

*10. How has being a Local Guide changed the way you explore your city or travel?*

I’ve become more intentional. I don’t just visit places I observe, document, and reflect. I look for stories in the details and try to leave behind something useful for the next person. It makes every trip feel more meaningful

Thanks to Supportors on Google Connect and Happy 27th Birthday to Google.

Fabulous roadmap and the answers, dear @CHIRAG_PRAJAPATI
I loved reading through your ideas and experiences with Maps so far.
Most have been unique and fascinating :+1:

#3 idea :light_bulb: is excellent :+1:
Think global - Act local

#4 was superb. When we get direct feedback about our contribution, the sense of fulfillment is immense.

#5 - Attention to smaller things matters too. I pick this idea from you from here onwards and try to include in my review, the points that are easily left out by other reviewers:+1:

#6 So true. Each cafe has a vibe and charm of its own. If we can highlight this in our review, that will be a valuable contribution that stands out :+1:

#7 “Your voice matters more than you think.” That is so inspiring :+1:

#10 Same for me.
I wandered through the top places in Pune countless times. But recently I have started to add reviews more cautiously as if I am hosting someone and taking them around in my town :+1:
