This challenge consisted on taking pictures of a place for both Google maps and crowdsource and to determine if they were good pictures for one or the other or even both!
I’ve chosen to go to the FOGO which is a restaurant and night club situated in Boisbriand, Canada. I went for dinner since they have a lunch table and I was curious about the place.
I think it’s an okay picture for both Google maps and crowdsource. For Google maps, it can help people a bit by seeing what the sign outside is, but it doesn’t add a lot of value. As for Crowdsource, it could be labelled as a sign but I wouldn’t say that the picture is a good one.
This picture isn’t a good one for both Google maps and Crowdsource. For Google maps, you can’t really feel the ambiance with this picture and it doesn’t add value. For Crowdsource, there isn’t really a focus on one thing.
This one would be a good one on Google Maps. You can feel the ambiance of the place and it helps you choose the restaurant when you see its style. As for Crowdsource, since there isn’t any focal point, it wouldn’t be a good one.
This picture is a good one for both. For google maps, I just need to add the dish name to the caption and Voilà! For crowdsource, I can say that it’s duck with orange sauce, there’s orange also and cresson.
Another picture that would be good in both Google maps and Crowdsource. As for the label that can be used for crowdsource : crouton, beef tartar, mustard sauce, cresson, black plate

I like the the honest evaluation you gave to every photo, considering not only the dos but also the don’ts for every single picture.
This is exactly what we should do, on my opinion, before to upload a photo.
This simple way to proceed would improve dramatically the quality of the information on both programs, with a huge benefit for the users of Google Maps
Everyone should do this, it is really important to identify which photos are more useful to Maps, Crowdsource or even both. This way our contributios are really helping.
Thanks for participating in the Challenge, I like your analysis @Melissa_Langlois . However, do not be too critical of yourself. I think all your photos would be great for both Google Maps and Google Crowdsource. The viewer can clearly tell what the objects are in the photos.
For Crowdsource, I could see the bar photo clearly labeled as chandelier, black chairs (I would show the chair legs), fence, patio umbrella, clouds, sky, building, patio heat lamp, beer draft tower, bar counter.
Your outdoor dining area: pools, sofa, couch, outdoor furniture, palms, potted plants, tables, sky, clouds, black table, fence, etc.

@ErmesT You’re right. I really like doing the exercise. It was fun and challenging. It got me questioning more about my contributions and how I wanted to help others on Google maps. More than ever, I felt it wasn’t a question than making more points fast but to really help as best as I could. Once again, this will help me step up my game.
@AdamGT I highly encourage you to read the recap once it will be done. It will give you plenty of ideas on how to improve your contribution with really helpful pictures.
