My beginnings with the GMAP (Google) were quite modest, at a simple invitation from captain @SholaIB for TRAC campaign – a curiosity that a seeker should have. For me, the map was a great curiosity then and remains so today. As civilized humans, we have had access to unprecedented sights on Earth over the years. Yet when we see the world on a map of this unprecedented scale, it seems that something that was already deep inside us has awakened. Today Google Maps is a collection of beautiful landscapes. Over the past decade, this collection has been viewed by millions of people around the world as an interactive exhibition on the wallpaper of an Android device or through other means.
.
Evan Nowadays Google Maps has also evolved from stunning images of the developed world to a more visually appealing map. The enhanced imagery covers most locations around the world and includes bright colors, sharp images, all optimized for today’s high-resolution screens.

Location: The image is centered on a location labeled “Soyombotoi Uul” on Google Maps.
Symbolism: The most prominent feature is a large, stylized symbol in the center. It appears to be a depiction of the Soyombo symbol, a national symbol of Mongolia.
.
Soyombo Symbol:
The symbol consists of various elements, including a flame, a yin-yang (or two fish), rectangles, and other abstract shapes.
These elements represent various aspects of Mongolian culture and history, such as freedom, independence, and tradition.
writing: Below the Soyombo symbol, there are three lines of writing. The script appears to be Mongolian script, which is a vertical script.
Background: The background is a dark, rough texture, possibly a rocky surface or ground.
.
This image likely captures a large depiction of the Soyombo symbol and Mongolian script etched or painted onto a natural surface, perhaps a mountainside or a large rock formation.
“Soyombotoi Uul” probably translates to “Soyombo Mountain” or “Soyombo Hill”. This would make sense due to the large Soyombo symbol displayed.
it suggests that this location holds cultural or historical significance for Mongolia.
summarize This Google Maps image shows a culturally significant site in Mongolia, featuring the national Soyombo symbol and Mongolian script displayed on a natural surface. It provides a unique glimpse into the country’s heritage and traditions.

Historical significance and location
.
This GMAP snapshot view of a large painted symbol on the ground. You can clearly see a shield-like shape with the colors of the Chilean flag – red, white, and blue, with a white star in the center. Below it, it says ‘CHILE’ and the years ‘1929’ and ‘1976’. And above it, the word ‘VISVIRI’.
Visviri is a small village located in the extreme north of Chile, right on the border with Peru and Bolivia. It’s known for being one of the most remote and isolated settlements in the country. The years ‘1929’ and ‘1976’ likely mark significant events in the town’s history. Perhaps the founding of the town or a major anniversary? The painted symbol itself could be a tribute to Chilean national identity or a local landmark.
I did a little digging and found that Visviri is indeed a very remote and unique place. Its location at the tri-border area makes it historically significant. It’s fascinating to see how even in such a remote location, people express their identity and mark their place on the Map.

I hope you enjoyed this little geographical exploration, would like more hidden gems and discoveries and, as always, keep exploring with me.

Look at this incredible image I found on Google Maps. Isn’t it stunning? You can see the massive cruise ship docked at the terminal, the water a deep, mesmerizing blue. Just look at the detail – you can even see the individual railings on the deck! This image really captures the beauty and scale of these ocean liners. It makes you want to pack your bags and set sail on an adventure.
