I have already contacted you way back before when I had concerns about the Google Map in my place and I was overwhelmed with how prompt you were in responding. Now I am back to ask you a help again. I am currently working in a company named “Asian Home”. It has many branches and my concern is in the one located in “Centrio Ayala Mall, Cagayan de Oro City”. I tried to edit its correct location but I cannot find the right option. The correct address is “3rd floor, Centrio Mall, Cagayan de Oro City”. It is not located inside the “toys “R” Us Centrio Mall”. Centrio Mall is an Ayala Mall, its address is corner Captain Vicente Roa St, C.M. Recto Avenue Cagayan de Oro City. Inside the Mall are several tenants and Asian Home is one of them. Toys R Us is also one of those tenants. (I don’t know why Asian Home happened to be located inside the Toy R Us in the current Google Map). In editing the correct address, I clicked the “located within another place” to input the correct one which is the “Centrio Mall”, it just don’t appear as an option, instead, other tenants of the Mall appears. This info of the store is misleading. I have attached some screenshots to help you understand my concern. Like you, I wanted to help the Google Map be more accurate as much as I can and so I am very hopeful that you could help me on this.
Regards from the City of Golden Friendship, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines.
Thank you so much for your reply. What can I do then if that is the case? By the way, I am an employee of the affected establishment and I a local guide at the same time😊
I understand your point but I don’t understand why it has to be that way. Being a local guide, I can say that I am being fair to all establishments. Everytime I would see mistakes on Google Maps that I am certain with, I usually do everything that I can to correct it. And whenever I find it hard to do myself, I would come here to ask for help to moderators. I didn’t know that doing a help, not a favor to the company I work with might cause me undergo unfortunate consequences. That is very sad. I really love my being a local guide. For me it doesn’t matter if I work in that company or not, it is the same. But if I shall be facing an unfortunate consequence for my mentality, then perhaps what can I only say to myself is “sorry” for being so passionate to being a Local Guide. Thanks for your responses. I am sorry for my violations but I can’t promise to stop doing so.
I’ll forward this issue of the wrongly claimed Centrio Ayala Mall to our team for investigation and I’ll get back to you when I have an update.
I agree with @PaulPavlinovich that the Local Guides program is reserved for individuals only, and not businesses. However, if you’re participating as an individual and your contributions reflect your genuine and objective experiences, without promoting in any way the company you’re working at, it’s totally fine to continue in the program. Thank you.
Hi @Do_ME_YOUnique I noticed you said “I am sorry for my violations but I can’t promise to stop doing so.” - you do need to promise to not do so to remain within the rules.
You can be a Local Guide when you work for someone of course (we all do this) but you cannot review the organisation that you work for or are associated with in business because there is a clear conflict of interest in doing this.
Thank you for giving time with my concern. I found your reply more compassionate for a newbie in the program like me. And yes, I have the same views with you in terms of participating the program. By the way, I am also a customer of our store that was why I decided to give a rating and review. (But I decided to delete my review on one of the branch as it may sound bias since it was very detailed, also because I am very familiar with the place) but I promise I wouldn’t be bias. I have nothing else that I can be proud of with myself except for being honest in everything that I do. I hope the issue could be resolved soon. As always, I wouldn’t be tired of being a Local guide, be passionate in helping Google especially in my place for as long as the Google Team would allow me:blush:. Again, thanks
I would like to clarify that my concern in the first place is regarding to edits that is why I was honestly a bit upset. My very concern is correcting the wrong info in the Google Map. Nothing to worry about my reviews and ratings, I give such feedbacks according to my experience. and I am personally aware of what you mean. I only have said those words because I felt like you evaluated those as such which I don’t fully agree
I repeat, my concern in the first place is about correcting the wrong address.
I hope there is no miscommunication in here because I assume we are all for the good of Google.
I checked the edit that I recommended just now and found it correct already. Thank you very much! I am happy that it is now accurate. Just that, it is still in 2f that is supposed to be in 3floor. Kindly see my screenshot. Thanks
Thank you for clarifying that you’re participating in the Local Guides program as an individual. To avoid any conflict of interest, however, please refrain from rating or reviewing businesses you’re associated with. I’m sure that the services offered are more than enough for other Local Guides to leave their honest reviews! If you still have reviews about your shop, please go back and remove them. Thank you!
As for the issue with Centrio Mall, I’m happy to tell you that the name and all contact information have been corrected.
While what we do obviously provides a better product for Google @Do_ME_YOUnique we are really here for our communities.
To fix the addresses and other attributes of businesses that you work for or have a business involvement with, encourage the management of the business to claim their Maps entry(ies) and keep them up to date themselves via https://business.google.com/ - it could even become your job to do it - if your work is anything like mine, the person who puts their hand up to do a job will get it. Then there would be no conflict of interest. You get what you want and you stay inside the rules.
