Google Local Guides - Official events not returning?

Hello dear fellow Local Guides,

I have been a Local Guide for many years now and still actively contributing. Though I have the feeling that the activity from the Google team seems to be less than before.

Don’t get me wrong, it is still a very active community from the Local Guides side. But events such as Connect Live has not returned since the Covid stop even though travel restrictions all over the world are lifted. Guiding Stars event started during Covid but also stopped since 2022.

I am wondering if events like these are returning one day? I imagined they would by now but there seems to be no news. These events are not my incentive to be a Local Guide, but attending Connect Live was one of the best things that happened to me in my life, so I would love to see that opportunity back to have Local Guides of all over the world together again to share ideas. :pray:t4:

Hi @Stphn

Great question.

As you probably know, Google rarely (never) discusses future events, features, or products before they are announced.

Next year Maps it turning 20 years old and the Local Guides Program is turning 10, so we can all cross our fingers and hope some events will be organized.

As far as I know there is no Guiding Stars event planed for 2024, @HUMBERTO_V

Yes sometimes local guide event is definitely necessary.Same feelings by me in case of activeness of Google teams.
