Hello @LindaLately

Nice to meet you here on connect. It’s a good thing that you are putting alot of time and effort into making the maps better. Well-done and thank you !!!

Perhaps you may not be aware that contributions to the maps should be solely as a local guide not as a buisness owner. I saw on your maps profile that you are a travel buisness owners. It will be a wise decision to separate your business actives from your local guides activities. Participation as a buisness owner is strictly prohibited.

That said, getting invitations to live summit like connect live etc depends so much on your contributions and active participation not only on the maps but also on connect. It’s not something a local guide can request for,it’s the Google team who probably after proper examinations of your profile and contributions can decide to nominate you for such things.

As regarding perks, the same thing also applies for perks as well.Nevertheless make sure you have your settings on as well to receive such when the chance arrives.I have realised that enjoying contributing and having fun alongside your local guides activities is the greatest perks. Realising that your contributions are helping people is the next best one. Every local guide have the capability to enjoy both, as I am enjoying it.

A big congratulations on hitting 1 million views. I have also just hit 22 million views. Please keep contributing actively to the maps and keep interacting on connect. Your consistency and quality contributions matters alot and who knows, you may be am exceptional local guide. Now,rewards or not invitation or not, happy guiding and enjoy Mapping.

Cheers

Congratulations on your Total Photo Views - a great milestone in your Local Guide journey, @LindaLately and welcome to Connect!

The more you engage on Connect, the more likely you will catch the eye of the Google team. Share detailed posts; offer valuable insights on comments; support other Local Guides by liking their posts; start a Meet Up in your area. There are many, many Local Guides that only post to Google Maps, so staying engaged on Connect is not only a surefire way to become a better Guide, but also more likely to help you with the perks you’re in search of.

You might also be interested in joining up with the Leaderboards that @AdamGT created and manages - it’s a great way to meet, interact and also “compete” with other Local Guides from around the world!

I wrote a post about it not long ago that I’ll link here:

The Value of the Top 100 Local Guides Leaderboards

You’ll find a good bit of info in that post and a link to start your journey, should you choose!

Congratulations for your views, @LindaLately . Your photos are great

We will not have an event in 2022 (it is too late to organize it as it hasn’t been announced yet) you have some month to focus on your contribution. Events like Connect Live are usually open to collect the applications between February and March, like it was for Connect Live 2020 (you can read the post here: Connect Live applications are now open

Of course being active in Connect may help, @Mikeinthefalls , but the main focus is in “High-quality, well-rounded, and consistent contributions on Google Maps over the past 12 months” (Source: Save the date for Connect Live 2020 . I can tell you for sure (I met all of them) that several of the Local Guides Attendees on the years 2017, 2018, 2019 were not active in Connect, and for many of them the first post here was their application post.

The competition is always strong, because only a limited number is invited, that’s why I would focus on my contributions on Maps first. Quality of contributions, not quantity, that’s why the application was open from L5, and some L5 was invited too.

As an example, I would remove the duplicates and redundant (very similar) photos, because these (even if maybe not intentionally) are violations of the Community policy . And I would try to share longer reviews, telling more about the places where I’ve been

Some of the attendees is also focusing on helping others on specific topics, like in my case the areas of Italy affected by the earthquake.

Google Maps offers to us a lot of different ways to contribute, so it will not be difficult for you to choose what you like more.

Good luck
