Google deletes my reviews

Hello I am local guide for several years. But last week Google started to delete some of my posts = my experience. It gives me some general reasons like this does not happened, post is no real etc. I am really upset, because I know what i have experienced. Is here anybody who can help me fix this?

Hi @michal_rost , welcome back to Connect after a long time, and thank you @KattyGeltmeyer for tagging me

Michal, i can confirm that 12 of your reviews are private. As you are in the EU, I suppose you are getting a notification for each review that has been made private.

By clicking on “details” do you have a link to appeal?

If so, you can appeal for the review to be checked by an operator and, if they don’t find any violation, the review will be immediately reinstated.

If there is not a link to appeal, most probably the issue is on one of the attached media (video or photos).

In this case please try to remove the media and post the review again.

However please be aware that recently posted reviews can appear as Not Posted for a short time (one hour to a few days) depending on the time for Google to check the media. So if the reviews are recent, it would be better to wait a bit to see if they are posted later. I’m telling you that for personal experience

Hello @ErmesT

I tried to appeal, however i’ve recieved only a brief notice that operator went through my appeal and decided to block my review.

For instance this one…

Only thing that comes to my mind that some "big brother intelligence"noticed I work for this company. Nevertheless, I bought that product for my own money in a store, i use the product personally at home. I use it for cleaning bread crumbs that my little daughter makes. Everything is truth.

Also every company I post review for is based on my personal experience with that company. Some of these companies are also my clients, the vast majority are not.

Hi @michal_rost

As a Maps user I appreciate that Google Maps is not allowing users to post reviews of former and current employers and their products because there easily can be a conflict of interest.

Would you not agree?

All the best

Morten

I’m sorry about that, @michal_rost , but in fact the “Conflict of Interest” is mentioned in the Prohibited & restricted content on the Local Guides help pages, so the review was been removed correctly.

What about your other reviews?

Did you appeal for them too?

I wanted to check your review again.

The review was not blocked for Conflict of interest. The review was blocked because you were reviewing a product, not the Location.

In fact you are not even mentioning the place, but you are clearly mentioning the product name, his characteristics, and why you find that product helpful.

This kind of reviews in Google Maps can be considered Spam, as it is a kind of light advertisement for the product, so the removal was definitely correct.

On Google maps we review the place, because this can be helpful for other users. The product can be found also in other shops.

@MortenCopenhagen @ErmesT @michal_rost Think of writing reviews as if you are a guide and someone asks you “where should I buy this product” or “where should I go when I want to do x or y?” Reviewing a specific product or a dish is not the correct place when you use google maps. When reviewing a restaurant e.g. you can tell why that specific dish at that restaurant is special, what tells the restaurant apart from other similar restaurants, … Concerning a shop: why should I visit that specific shop? Is it accessibile, is the staff helpfull and friendly, …? Reviewing for points will result in issues like you experience. Hope @Ermest tips will help.

Understood, so review must correspond to specific location or service in that location not a product. Ok, that is clear for me. Thank you for explanation @ErmesT .

Thank you @michal_rost

Just think at yourself as a user. What are you looking for when you search for a business? What kind of information do you expect when you check how is a place that you want to visit? How is the Location? Did you had to wait before being served? Your experience of the place

@michal_rost , I lived in Prague for 4 years. I wrote 100s of reviews in my time there. Most of my Prague reviews are now showing Not Posted.

I have no idea and trying to get the problem resolved is difficult. I’ve given up now.
