Google contributions rejected despite photographic proof of their legitimacy

I’m getting very tired of submitting corrections to Google maps, complete with photographic and sometimes videographic proof of the legitimacy of the corrections only to have it quietly listed as “not accepted”. It is getting so bad that I cannot trust the information on Google maps especially since I can see information that is clearly wrong despite my having attempted multiple times to correct it. Is there a way to have a sensible AI validation of the information so that real information can be entered and actually accepted by the service?

Happened with me too. I tried correcting the location of a bank, which was on the other side of town but on maps, shows up as being in my colony. I’ve been trying to correct this and 2 other such tough ones since 3 years but no luck. Always get ‘Not Accepted’. I thought it’s other contributors like us who verify the corrections but seems that’s not the case.

Hi @drewmcpherson

What are you trying to add/edit? a few categories Google may not accept your edit request like Bank, ATM, any Financial organizations due to spamming and also verified business listing.

Hi @drewmcpherson

I took a quick look at your profiles and saw a few indications that you might not be aware of all the guidelines from Google. These violations might affect your approval rate of suggested edits.

On Connect, your profile picture and text advertise for https://companionation.com/ which is an issue. Brands are also something we can’t use Connect to promote.

On Maps, quite a few of your reviews have been taken down by the spam filter. You added 249 reviews but currently only 99 of them are public.

I noticed this:

Sharing screenshots is also against the guidelines.
If you wanted to report an issue on the Map or wrong navigation there are dedicated paths to do so. Issues with bus stops should be reported to your local transport authority, who can make needed changes on Maps. Local Guides cannot.

You uploaded many photos and videos to Stanley Park Playground. Uploading similar (redundant) images is not allowed. Same issue at Google Maps. Photos of a sunset or sunrise do rarely show the places clearly.

Uploading selfies is also an issue. See Google Maps

I mentioned these issues just in case you want to protect your account.

Re. your issue this post might give you some pointers on how to get edits approved.

As @AbdullahAM mentioned, some categories cannot be edited by Local Guides. When you have trouble getting an edit approved, your next step would be to collect the documentation (including screenshots of your attempted edits and the outcome (rejected or pending)) and share a post on Google Maps Community

Hi @drewmcpherson and welcome aboard! …

Actually those are things that happened to bigginers ..( I mean as soon as you wonder it ,it might happen so that you learn from it …)
That said ,we all passed through..

The steps to take now are listed by our senior Mr @MortenCopenhagen ..
An advise you should check out your supplied medias ( photos & videos) remove redundants

Even Selfies you’ve uploaded..
That will simply Sharp a little bit your accuracy and make the algorithm follow you on you aploadings ..
Note that More your supplings are redundants more there’s a chance to be rejected ( something like the algorithm don’t trust you) ..
:ok_hand:
