Give people tips to experience places like locals do...while travelling with kids! The most ....

The most interesting thing I’ve done as a local guide: give people tips to experience places like locals do…while traveling with kids!

My wife Alessandra and I have always enjoyed globetrotting! Before starting our family we would travel to a different place at least once a year. ………decided to experience a different way of traveling… (with our kids  )

  • live everywhere like you were a local!

When you travel with kids you would like to explore, visit, and discover places as you have always done in your travels, reality though can be a bit far from expectations. Most of your time is spend in dealing with daily stuff, so you have more opportunity to live like a local whichever place you are visiting. Forget “organized tours” to far away popular tourist wonders your organized tours will be within 200 meters from you. Your best discoveries will be just around the corner: local markets and groceries will be on your travel bucket list. Day by day, little by little you will change your tourist identity into a local one. This also means having a nice exit strategy…when you need to take a break from your lovely family! …any real local would have one! When in New York my favorite one was @BoatPub in Brooklyn! The place is a relaxing spot in the heart of Brooklyn, where you can drink something on your own or have a nice chat with new yorkers stopping there on their way home.

  • experience the real thing of every place you visit!

Nowadays technology has transformed traveling into something amazing…you get lost only if you want and you can plan your daily trip by the minute by using Gmaps. This also means that you can safely walk from place to place and meet locals who have taken the same routes (not tourist only routes!). So you can actually scream “Bingo” when you bump into a resident who will give you a nice tip about an event in the area or an activity that isn’t advertised anywhere. So you can change your route and have the opportunity to do something really special and share your time with locals. That’s how my family and I discovered the **National Child’s day, @**Pak_Khlong_Market_Flower_Market in Bangkok. It didn’t take my children more than a minute to make friends with a bunch of local kids and to be fully involved in games and food tasting, while my wife and I watched incredulous our tourist identity fading. The next time you are in Bangkok ask a “real local guide” …it could be me or my wife!

  • make the difference! Share your experiences

You can tour the world but home is home! So, my first and most important contribution as a local guide started in 2015 with a special place in my town where you can spend your time surrounded by nature in the first European green energy park. I am very happy to see that so far more than 45.000 people have visited the park on Gmaps. I have heard from the park itself that my contributions has helped every year thousand of people to find a beautiful sustainable spot in my city. I’m really proud of it.
