I love to share local spots on Google Maps so that tourists can see what Maui is like from the locals perspective. Too often tourists come here and stay at a resort and do a bunch of activities that the locals rarely participate in. There are so many spots on the island that are rich with culture, history, and tropical beauty that are off the beaten path and don’t come up first in their activity books. A lot of these spots are free, and you will find others there but you can still enjoy the stillness and natural beauty that they posses. One of these spots is Iao Valley. Iao Valley is located in the town of Wailuku and is moments from the city though you would never know it. There are waterfalls in the distance, a bridge over the flowing water, and stairs that lead up to a viewing of Iao Valley that is breathtaking. Plenty of tourists visit this spot, but locals enjoy it just as much. You can even get into the water there if you are up to the cold temperatures and a little adventure
