Gaur a deserted capital of Bengal Sultanate.

Gaur, Salami Darwaza, District Malda, West Bengal, India.

After visiting the main heritage located in the historical first capital of the independent Bengali Sultanate, left the hotel in the morning to visit Gaur, the second capital.

The Ilyas Shahi dynasty, over which the Ganesh dynasty had established its dominance for some years, was re-established. The transfer of capital was completed during the reign of Sultan Nasiruddin Mahmud Shah. Earlier it was also known by the names Gouda, Lakhnauti and later Jannatabad.

Jalaluddin Fateh Shah was the last sultan of the Iliyas Shahi dynasty. The foundation of the Habshi dynasty was laid by Ghiyasuddin Barbak Shah in 1487 AD after the murder of Sultan Fateh Shah.

In 1494 AD, Alauddin Hussain Shah established the Hussain dynasty after killing the Habshi Sultan Shamsuddin Muzaffar Shah and ruled till 1519 AD.

Sultan Nasiruddin Nusrat Shah was the second Sultan of the Hussain Shahi dynasty. Who made great contribution in the areas of expansion, growth, progress, security and trade etc. Thus Gaur was included in the major advanced and wealthy cities of the world.
In fact, before writing the details of the visit to Baradwari, Barasona or Boro Sona Masjid, it was considered appropriate to write briefly the golden history of Gaur which was deserted after the attacks of Humayun and Sher Shah Suri, by the time holy river Ganga also changed its course away from this capital.
