Fukushima exclusion zone with the eyes of a local guide.

On our travels in Japan, we went to visit the Fukushima exclusion zone.

The Zone was created after the three nuclear meltdowns and an explosion that caused the release of radioactive materials into the surrounding area. The reason for the accident was a huge tsunami caused by a earthquake that was next to the japan coast. In some parts the tsunami wave was 21 meters high. The evacuation started immediately after the earth quake.

A man owns a farm which most part is in the NO GO zone. The man refused to kill his animals despite the fact that they are contaminated and can not be used as food for people. He found his new calling is to warn people that a new tragedy can happen. He has a lot of supporters. They support him financially and also with other things. For example a company is giving him pineapple skins to feed the bulls. Pity that that can not be eaten. A steak from a bull that was fed with pineapples must be great.

Tsunami … the real power of water.

This school is called the Tsunami school. The kids and teachers started to run toward a hill nearby. All of them manage to get to safety in time. Nowadays there is a memorial for all the victims of this tsunami.

Japanese government is working around the clock. They used all methods that proved to be good and working from Chernobyl liquidation effort. They build immediate a cooling plate under the reactor and started to collect approximately 8 centimeters of soil in the contaminated area. The collected soil is being decontaminated and used again in building roads or they are bringing it back. The storage are all over the Fukushima zone. It is safe the say that the Japanese people are going to clean all the zones to make safe for living again. In time.

The closest you can get official to the power plant is 3 kilo meters.

The second nuclear power plant was the lucky one. It was not in critical condition after the tsunami hit the land.

One hotel was standing on the empty field on the photo below. The hotel was not so lucky.

No people… no life… just a vision of earth after people.

Not everything there is radioactive or depressing. The weather was great, nature was beautiful. And of course… we had lunch there We stopped for Lunch in a small town near the entrance to the No go zone. It was seriously great.

[DEEP JAPAN] Survey around the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant

By the way I want to advise only one. You seem to be uploading indoor photos, but their owners have not relinquished their ownership. Therefore, indoor photos has been prohibited until now. Please avoid as much as possible next time.

Hi @YasumiKikuchi , thank you for the comment. I read your article. It is very interesting. Thank you for sharing it with me.

I forgot to mention in the post, that this was an official visit. We had a official guide from the company and permissions to enter in some areas. We did an interview with Mr. Masami Yoshizawa and later we meet with local man and with him we visited most of the places. A the police was always near by. :):)

The same goes for the pictures from Chernobyl exclusion zone.

Hi @maquara

That would not be a problem✅.
Japan is strict about private protection, so it is possible if the police has given permission to release photos.
