As an expat living in Ho Chi Minh City (a.k.a. Saigon), you soon realize that your immediate needs revolve around coffee and more specifically “iced coffee”. Saigon’s tropical weather adds a level of humidity that you might find in a sauna. So if you’re like me, from a small town in the middle of nowhere USA, you quickly run to a source of iced caffeine and air conditioning. The perks at La Viet stem much farther than the best-iced coffee in all of Vietnam. The staff regularly pride themselves of dripping some of the most meticulously grounded beans seen in this very competitive market. The coffee bean is the countries #2 export, so you can imagine just by reading this that there are some connoisseurs through a few doors around these tight quarters.
These images don’t really do much justice as the experience with any place needs to be in person. I hope that with anyone who lives and or visits Ho Chi Minh City that they venture off the normal franchise route that dominates the tourist areas and experiences something authentically crafted as I have.
Cheers

@jackjross - drinking great coffee is a universal language. We have lots of Local Guides coffee connoisseurs here on Connect.
Do you have a favorite iced offee (photo) of what Le Viet serves? What is is called? Does Le Viet have their own coffee plantation?
Here in the States, I know my favorite Vietnamese restaurant serves iced coffee with lots of condensed milk.
Best of luck with your Connect Live 2019 application. = )

Drinking coffee is truly a universal Language, Karen. I don’t have any pictures developed yet to share but will definitely be contributing to the coffee scene here in Vietnam as time goes on. I shoot on film so I’m at the mercy of how often I drink and take pictures lol.
Ca Phe Sua Da translates to Iced Coffee and it’s absolutely amazing.
I’m almost certain they do have their own plantation. Their brand originates from Da Lat, Vietnam. It’s a mountain town 6 hours from Ho Chi Minh City. The abundance of growers here often has to dry out their coffee beans on the street.
Have you been to Vietnam?
I will be submitting my Connect Live Application here shortly
Thank you
