Hello World of Google Maps Local Guides! This is my first text-post on LG. I would like to introduce myself and to share with you my favourite place to live, personal development and growing a family. It’s a little story of my life time journey to the place I now call Home.
My name is Caterina and I grew up in Moscow, Russia, a city with a population of 10 million. I love my home land, but my new family invited me to join them in Israel. For four years I lived in a desert town with a population of 33 thousand called Dimona, close to the Dead sea and not far from the Red sea. I was very happy to experience the new world around me in a country with ancient history and 7 climate zones to explore. Time passed and our growing family inspired us to come to Toronto, Canada. After living in a small town, we found that a city with a population of 4 million is too much for us and we found a compromise – Blackburn Hamlet, which became a part of Ottawa, Canada in 2001.
We discovered the Hamlet when we travelled from downtown Ottawa by the scenic Rockcliffe parkway. The road running along the Ottawa river ended up in a small community called Blackburn Hamlet, which is fully surrounded by Ottawa’s Greenbelt.
It was love at first sight and we could not imagine that about ten years later our kids would encourage us to move there after enjoying a pleasant walk around the neighborhood. During the walk we came across a chain of nice parks connected by walk-bike path, various schools, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a hockey arena and several soccer fields.
Now, we have neighbors from all over the world and I am happy to have the opportunity to share this little spot on the map with the Local Guides community.
