- The Beginning (2004–2007): Compass and Curiosity
My travel story began around 2004, driven by a deep passion for exploring the wild and untouched corners of India. With a prismatic compass, geo-political maps, and an unquenchable spirit of adventure, I ventured into some of the most remote forest regions of the country.
My early journeys took me through the deep forests of Arunachal Pradesh — places like Khonsa, Changlang, and Diphu(Assam), where dense canopies filtered sunlight into greenish hues. From there, I trekked into the mystic hills of Nagaland and Meghalaya, absorbing the raw beauty of the Northeast.Navigation relied purely on compass bearings and map grids, demanding precision and patience. These early expeditions taught me the art of direction-finding and the value of resilience in unknown terrain.
- The Transition (2007–2015): The Arrival of GPS
After 2007, the arrival of GPS systems transformed travel. Initially, I cross-verified routes between compass readings and early GPS devices, blending traditional skills with modern tools.
Gradually, GPS made journeys through remote areas — especially in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand — far easier and safer. It helped me locate villages, mark forest trails, and navigate regions where maps lacked detail. Travel became more efficient without losing its sense of adventure.
3. The Digital Era (2015–Present): Google Maps Revolution
By 2015, Google Maps had become my primary travel guide. What began as a simple locator evolved into an essential tool for route planning, terrain previewing, and real-time navigation.
Over the years, I’ve relied on Google Maps to discover offbeat routes, find rest points, track fuel stations, and share live locations for safety. It turned into my virtual compass, offering precision and confidence on every road trip.
- The Recent Road Trip (2025): Technology Meets Terrain
On my latest road trip, Google Maps proved indispensable — from planning routes to offline navigation and live traffic updates. What once required hours of manual plotting now happens instantly, yet the thrill of exploration remains unchanged.
Technology has simplified travel, but the spirit of discovery still drives every journey.
- Reflection: From Paper Maps to Pixels
My story mirrors the evolution of navigation — from manual compass readings to satellite-guided precision.
While technology has redefined methods, my purpose endures: to explore new paths, connect with places deeply, and continue traveling with curiosity and courage.
