Every Friday, Google Moderators highlight the best posts they found to celebrate the amazing discoveries Local Guides like you are sharing on Connect. These are posts detailing past experiences that we hope will serve as entertainment and inspiration for your future bucket list. This week, a Japanese castle, a Venezuelan dish, and more.
@KlaudiyaG: For this Friday’s round-up, I picked @SoniaK 's post “Arches National Park - Where Mother Nature is the master sculptor #StateChallenge,” which is part of the #StateChallenge created by @Denise_Barlock and @Kwiksatik . In it, Sonia tells us about the Arches National Park in Utah, USA. She gives a lot of information about the location and history of the park, like the fact that some of the rock formations there are as old as 300 million years! Sonia also mentions activities to do there, what to bring, where to camp, and when the best time to visit the site is. To see her beautiful photos and read her tips, make sure to visit her post.
@DeniGu : Japan is famous for many great things, and one of them is its long history. As symbols of that history stand imposing castles with characteristic architecture and undeniable appeal. In the post “One of the best castles in Japan: the Himeji Castle / 日本の名城 【姫路城】,” Local Guide @nakashi tells us about the Himeji Castle in Hyogo Prefecture. He goes into detail about the curious features of the castle exterior, interior, and grounds that had to make it hard for enemies to invade. What I loved about his post was the old photo of the castle that Nakashi’s father took in the 1970s, put side-by-side Nakashi’s own photo from 2018. If you want to see the castle then and now, head to his post.
@Bobiisha : The post I’d like to highlight this week is “Today a Culinary Visit to Venezuela. From my series, A taste of flavor from different Cardinal Point” by Local Guide @Nosaint2_Rafael_Fe . What caught my attention were the mouthwatering photos of arepas, a type of corn dough patties with different fillings, which is one of my favorite Venezuelan meals. I really like the idea behind @Nosaint2’s post, too. He looks up restaurants and food trucks on Google Maps that offer dishes from different countries in his city in Puerto Rico and goes to try them out. The first post of his culinary journal series focused on Argentinian cuisine.
@MashaPS : While reading through the amazing posts of the past week, I was drawn to the stunning views in @Muhammad_Usman ’s post “Hidden beauty of Phander valley.” In it, he shares about a family trip to Phander Valley, a beautiful area with a wooden bridge, a river with turquoise waters, and more. The most interesting bit for me was Muhammad’s story of how his family decided to explore a little-visited part of the valley and had an unexpected off-road adventure. What happened and how they managed to get back on the main road, you can find in his post.
